3/8 Mild steel plate 200 yards 300 WM factory Berger Ammunition, I don't think this bullet would have trouble penetrating an elk scapula.

I have shot Red deer in Australia with 300SMK out of my 338 Snipetac out to 850 yardsYou're going to use a "match" bullet for hunting.....blasphemy!!!
That's a great bullet and have seen them completely penetrate elk at steep angles. A 215 and H1000 is the cats *** in a 300 WM.
I have shot Red deer in Australia with 300SMK out of my 338 Snipetac out to 850 yards
The deer dropped dead on the spot
Upon opening the chest cavity the lungs, liver and stomach could not be identified
It was all a great jelly blob as if a small bomb went off inside
Recovered bullet weight was 29 grains
I have also taken deer with my 300 RUM with 210 Berger VLD match
In all cases match bullets work well for me
In front? Or behind? Not that it wont work great on elk, but I'd be curious to see what it did if you put a beef brisket in front of that plate and then shot it.
190g Berger VLD's from my brothers 300 WM would penetrate my 3/8" mild steel plates at 600 yards. Barnes would splatter at all distances.
