212s!Trying to decide between these two bullets. They will be shot out of a 18" 300RUM. That's why I'm wondering which would be better for shooting elk, deer, etc.?

I'm going to be a Nay sayer! 18 inches of 10 twist is a no go. Your rifle was designed for 180 - 208. Anything heavier and you have very low terminal velocity. I'd even question 208 out of a 18 inch. I was a long time 30-378 person originally a 28 inch barrel and 2 inch brake I later went to a 30 inch barrel and 2 inch brake. I loaned my rifle to others doing hunting all over. So it took it's fair share of big game.Ordered some 225s. Any powder recommendations?

I would rebarrel it longer and possibly faster twist rate.
Sorry that I missed the 8 twist. I still would question 225's slower velocityThe op stated it's an 8 twist and even the 10 is fine with the 225 eldm for stability with the tip being polymer. Run the jbm calculator with an input for the polymer tip. He built this for his purpose which I'm sure includes a suppressor.
I got N570, N568, Staball HD, Retumbo, N560, IMR8133, H50BMG. I've ran a lot of Retumbo and 200gr bullets in my RUMs, wasn't sure if I needed a slower powder with the heavy bullet.Retumbo (that's what I'm using in a 26"), H1000, Reloader 26. I'm sure there are others that work but it will likely come down to what you can find.
I went to an 18" barrel so with a can I'm at 26" OAL barrel length. It's a 1-8 twist cause I originally planned to run different bullets. I'm currently getting 2750fps with a 195gr Badlands SBII. I was able to go faster, but that is where the node for barrel was and I went with it this last season.I'm going to be a Nay sayer! 18 inches of 10 twist is a no go. Hello All, This is my first post, so be gentle on me. I have a 300 RUM with a Rem 700 action and a Krieger Light Varmint contour 35 inch barrel. It is set up as a tactical rifle with a McMillan A5 stock. (I am in my Tactical Toys phase right now.) The gun will be used for target shooting...www.longrangehunting.com

87grs a good starting point than? From what I've seen browsing the web, it looks like a lot guys are around 90.5grs for there load.Rum with n570 will land in that 90-93 grain area. @Huntnful norma improved and rum are pretty close to same case capaci
