Why is it so important that you all have to express the yardage of the kill. You went out
to bag your game. You bagged a beautiful animal to be proud of, why care about yardage
it was taken at. Yardage appears more important than the animal taken. My 2 cents worth.
I didn't but typically do. Didn't really think about it. This is a long range hunting site and too me that's another measure of the accomplishment and or added memory.
To call people out for pride in an accomplishment is not good for our sport as it divides us as hunters.
The accomplishment can be measured as success in many ways...
Size of antlers/body
How far was the shot
How many miles from the trail head
How close to the trail head
Some bow hunters are proud of making a long shot, say 100 yards. Some are proud of how close they got to their quarry.
Was it shared with friends or family
DRT
The list goes on.
I shot that elk at 550 yards off a tripod from the seated position since you asked. The sitting son made for a beautiful picture imo and hangs above my loading bench.
