1000 yard .308

Just shot the 42gr load at 300 yards. The chrony said the velocity was from 2508-2512 but it only took 15 clicks from a 100 yard zero to be on at 300 so I'm thinking it's running closer to 2550-2560. I shot 5 rounds at a jam, 4 just touching, and 4 .010 off. This is a pic of the 5 at a jam. The .010 off group was almost just as good but showed more fluctuation in velocity. Load development is done, time for 1k.

I also had decent accuracy from -.005 to +.040. Bergers hybrid design is definitely easier to load for than their secant ojive vld's.

Im sincerely excited for you, when you shoot these at 1k.

I hope its a little breezy so you can see how well these thing buck the wind.

Thanks CB I'm lookin forward to shooting it at 1k. According to jbm I'll have the same drop as my 185 load but with 16" left drift. I've heard people talk about these being hard to shoot because of recoil, they seemed to kick less than my 168 and 185 loads but when the first two went in the same hole, I didn't think about recoil on the rest, always a flier in the bunch though.

Ran 40-42.5 grains of Varget in Lapua Palma, BR4's and a 215 Berger jambed .020 and 41.5 and 42 grains went in the low .2's the rest in the mid .4's. Gotta load up a batch of 42gr and run them with the Magneto speed on and get a velocity but it should be good.

Be sure to let us know how it turns out. 42 looks like it might be the sweet spot. Wish I had a magneto speed myself, I'm never really sure how much I can trust mine.
