1000 yard .308

If I were to try and use 4350 I would need a drop tube to fit the powder in the case. Which one do yall recommend?

I would make one. Super easy. Brake tubing from auto store...it has flares on ends. Cut one end off. Use flared end for case. Mount on piece of wood and set your powder funnel on top of straight end.

I can't wrap my head around exactly how a drop tube works . Wouldn't the inside diameter of the tube depend on what powder you were using? This would be for hodgdon extruded only. Looks like. 21St century makes a good one???

Just like this:

The powder falls farther into the case, theoretically stacking or arranging it in a tighter pattern inside the case....and it works well. Take a spent case and fill with a heavy charge of your choice, then set a bullet on top and measure the OAL. Then pour that charge back out into a pan and dump through the drop tube into same case. Reset the bullet on top again and measure. It'll be a very noticeable difference. I think it's like .060 seating difference with RL17 at high charges. Gains will vary from ball to stick powder

Took the loads from 42.7-43.5 to the range yesterday. I popped a primer on the second 42.9 shot (brass had loose pockets already) but I stopped there. Im going to go back and play with seating depth around 42 which had the same imipact as 41.5 and 42.5 so it shoud be a good node there. My chrony was reading 2550-2580 at 42.7 and 42.9 so I think my speeds were faster the other day than the chrony was telling me they were. What brass are you fellas using with 48gr of 4350? Where are yall seeing pressure signs?

I'm using Palma cases and 205m primers.

I'm not sure if you can get enough H4350 in a 308 Win case to make over pressure with up to 200 grain pills. I'm at the range right now testing the 200 hybrids. I just shot 46.5, 47.0 with zero signs if pressure. 47.5 is next. Then 48.0 if 47.5 doesn't show pressure. 47.0 is at 2588. I've ran 48.0 under the 190 in Lapua cases with 215m magnum primers with zero pressure. I'm having better accuracy with 4350 than RL 17.

2600+ with a bullet that has a BC of .624 is pretty attractive. Windage is the same as a .260 with 140VLDs with A LOT more energy. Not sure how they'd perform on game but they have nearly 1000'# of energy at 1K. And that's at sea level with 59 degrees F.

Thanks Michael. Please post your results when you get through testing today. I think I might be able to get ahold of some 4350.

Those speeds were about what i was hoping for. I think you will be impressed with the 215 @ 2500fps when you take it to 1k.
I had the same issue with my chrony, when i verified drops i verified another 10-20 fps faster that what it was saying.

Im using lapua brass with cci#200 lr and i dont have any pressure signs with 48 gns of 4350 and the 215.
Micheals right, most of the time you cant get enough of the stuff in a 308 case.

48.0 H4350 under the 200 hybrids yielded 2640 FPS. Just under 1.25" at 300 yards. Single digit ES too! Zero pressure but cannot get anymore than 48.0 in the case. These are compressed loads but with single digit spreads who cares?

I also shot 1 three shot group of the 215s. Speed was 2550 with 46.5 grains. Sub MOA. 2-1/2". Single digit spreads. I could get another 50'sec with large magnum primers but don't know what that'll do with the ES.

Virgin brass?
My 48gn charge fits a little easier into once fired.
