What is your go to bow?

Congratulations!

Mind if I ask about your DL & the DW with your self bow? Did you achieve full penetration on this deer?
The bows draws 51# at 30" and has a mild reflex. I shoot a 650 grain arrow and virtually always get a pass through. That being said, I never shoot past 25 yards with it. I used a Black Eagle Zombie Slayer with a 100 grain insert and a 200 grain Grizzlystik Silverflame broadhead which is surgically sharp. This particular bow shoots about 175fps with these arrows. The yew backing really adds some snap to it. I previously used an osage self-bow with rawhide backing (sold it) and it only shot about 165fps with lighter bamboo shafts and stone points. I killed quite a few deer with it though. I am currently working on one that layered bamboo, yew, hickory with a rawhide backing, provided I can get it all to stay adhered. It came apart on me once already using 2 part epoxy.

This pic is from last year with the same set up.

Yep, that ruined his day!

Bowtech Rexolt X for me, I'm thinking about getting a set of X80 limbs for it, just to play around with velocities with a little heavier arrow.
I've been rocking the X80 for a few years now for that reason. A heavier arrow really helps at longer range. Especially in the wind.

Do you think I'd be better off buying a X80 or just buying limbs? Scheels has the Lift 33 in 80lb on sale and I was super tempted.
Idk. Obviously I have no need to look into buying the limbs, BUT, in talking with some others, I have noticed that the limb pockets on X80 are aluminum while on the X are polymer.

I'm thinking might have been for beefed up strength there for the higher poundage. So if you decide to swap limbs, maybe look into if that's a concern.

I think the SX80 replaced the X80.
I like longer bows, and the deadlock can system is 💰 💰 .
Being able to paper tune cams at distance that easy on the range makes things go way faster. It's a big reason why I stick with bowtech.
