We have found that blue painters tape brings us luck.
I've always used electrical tape with no problems. Keeps out everything from snow to broken twigs when crawling through the oak brush. Killed a caribou at 600 yards last year and I've never had it effect accuracy that I could tell.

Jim from Barbour Creek has a YouTube video showing his daughter shooting with tape well beyond "normal" ranges...zero effect.

I do recall seeing this a long time ago, but it slipped my mind
I don't think shotgunners TAPE but I heard of them having barrels blow off too
Also the small party balloons, like for making balloon fights
Those would work in place of tape and have color to easily check it hasn't been lost

I used one piece across the muzzle, down about an inch or so onto the barrel. Then, place a couple of rounds around the ends of the tape.
If ya shoot through the tape, and you didn't carry your extra tape as you should…..you can reuse the tape that you wrapped around the barrel to cover the muzzle.
One piece across the muzzle should be sufficient unless your shoot'n something beyond 50 cal.

But finding a case for it would be a real bitch. and some of the banana peels might hinder you in the bush.

I take rubber gloves and cut the fingers off and put them on the Muzzle, or finger cots if available. Both are easy to tell if there is a problem as the would tear.
