A long time friend of mine recently avoided a catastrophic failure and still is not exactly sure what happened. After dropping his Browning A-bolt 7mm mag in the snow, mud, leaves and debris, removed the bolt, checked the barrel and cleaned off the end and thought things were fine. Later on fired a shot and had everything literally come apart in his hands. He's very fortunate not to injured himself, but is bewildered as to what happened because he checked it all just like we all would...the only thing I can figure some of the snow must have melted and then turned to ice in the 14° air, so I guess we all need to look better and closer when we drop our rifles..
