How many gearheads on LRH ?

I have a few hot rods, but this one seems to get more attention than the others.

Tube chassis, 8 second street car.

Very nice ! I love me a 68 Camaro, and I happen to own one too. I built the 68 before I started on the 72. It was built as a street strip car. Small block 406, old school solid flat tappet cam, cast iron protopline heads, 11.4 to 1 comp, ran great on pump gas. Never got it to launch well, but still managed to run low 11s at 120, 60ft in the 1.9s :(. Its been outside in the weather for a few years and needs fresh paint , fluids changed out etc. I'm gonna sell it , but I need to freshen it up a little first. It's in pretty sad shape right now. I dont have the space or back to keep 2 toys up and the 72 does everything well, where the 68 is for straight lines only.

It's a '78. I would love me a '73 455SD. It was built as a multi purpose ride. 155mph, 13sec 1/4's, handles, cruise control and 20hwympg.

I did the same with my 72 Camaro. I had it running great with a mild LS3 . 11.5 sec quarter mile, theoretical 150ish top speed (third gear in the 2004r), 20+mpg, ac, ps, pb, etc......then I took it to the 2.0 version, dropped compression , 80mm turbo, homemade triangulated 4 link, coil overs on all 4s. Havent taken it to the track yet, but added about 250 rwhp and increased the suspension tunability alot. Had to take the ac off to do the turbo. I will probably live to regret that, lol.

I always have something to play with in the garage. My toy right now is a 72 Camaro with big brakes, homemade triangulated 4 link, coil overs all around, 4 spd overdrive trans, LS3 engine with an 80mm turbo , EFI, etc.....built it myself from a stripped shell . I even did my first stitch job on the interior . Got a sewing machine last Christmas and jumped right in there, lol. Someone hit the passenger side door with something and knocked off a big chunk of my garage done paint job, so I flat blacked the whole car till I can get around to painting it again. Fun stuff !
Must include photos!!!

I drag raced for about 15 years . I had my son in a JR dragster . the best my car went was high 8.2's . I did it all except the paint and I bought the tranny . I had a rodeck 432 CI aluminum small block , Brodix -12 heads , I had 2 / 750 carbs on it for awhile , then I went to a flying toilet alcohol injection set up .

I will confess as well. I have been elbow deep into wrenching since I was in high school. Most of my experience is building high performance Ford Mustangs. I currently have 3 in the stable. A 1987 that Zayne completely rebuilt himself, a 1991 red vert that's in the process of getting a full overhaul. That has a cobra power plant. Then the baby of the family, a 1997 Saleen Speedster Convertible. It's hard to pick sometimes which one to spend more time doing :D

Jim~
I ran the Flying Toilet for years on that car when I bracket raced it. It was one of the most consistent cars I've ever ran. I turned it over to race gas and the Quick Fuel carb when I quit racing it.

Joel , that flying toilet was a simple set up . it really worked . by any chance did you race super chevy at maple grove through the 1990's into early 2000 ? I was there just about every year , could have ran into you . I met a lot of nice people while I was racing

Whelp, I might be the odd one out here but I absolutely hate car work, especially restoration work. The reason why is a long and painful story so I will spare y'all the details.

I will fix what I must when its needed on my own vehicles, but I will never touch a project car ever again. I don't have the time, money, or patience to build or maintain a classic. To the guys that do, I commend you on your skill. It is one of those things that is definitely not for me.
