CWD Now can Infect Humans.

Lots of holes in that article
That is a MASSIVE understatement. That is the biggest piece of propaganda I have ever seen printed.
They printed all that up as truth....carefully worded so that they never said that the "unnamed" hunter died from CWD.
The headline for an article about my death in the future could read, "Man Dies After eating at Mcdonalds." I ate there several weeks ago so not IF I die, but WHEN I die they can use the headline above without being factually incorrect. All through that article there are cases of that type of disinformation.
Pathetic!

I read the article & they were pretty clear that the link between the deer having CWD and the hunters that got CJD was not clear & isn't confirmed yet. But I think the point was it looks PLAUSIBLE/PROBABLE and people should get their deer tested for CWD before consuming the meat and if a deer tests positive, you would be safest to NOT eat that meat.

I lived in Great Britain during the whole Mad Cow Disease scare & was unable to donate blood for well over 20 years out of an abundance of caution to be sure I didn't develop CJD and couldn't pass on "prions" to a patient receiving my blood. (These restrictions have now been lifted & I can once again donate blood.)

Prions are strange. They aren't bacteria, virus, fungus, or parasites. They are hard to kill!
From a web search:
How do you kill prions?
You need to use methods that can effectively break down their protein structure. Here are some ways to inactivate prions:

  • Incineration: Prions can be destroyed by incineration at very high temperatures, typically above 1,100°F (593°C) and up to 1,800°F (982°C). This method is often used to dispose of infected animal carcasses.
  • Chemical treatment: Sodium hypochlorite (bleach) can inactivate prions when used at high concentrations (40% or 100%) and for extended periods (30 minutes). This method has been tested on chronic wasting disease (CWD) prions in animal brain tissue.
  • Irradiation: Gamma irradiation has been shown to inactivate prions, but the required doses are much higher than those used for sterilization purposes. This method is not commonly used due to the high costs and limited availability of gamma irradiation facilities.
It is essential to note that prions are highly resistant to conventional methods of sterilization, such as boiling, alcohol, acid, standard autoclaving methods, or radiation. Therefore, the above methods should be employed with caution and under controlled conditions to ensure the effective inactivation of prions.

It probably has already infected a small number of people for decades. Chalked up to dementia, seizures, whatever. If it's not on the radar for doctors…it's probably not reported or investigated. Speaking from experience, we don't always have a clear answer of why someone dies in the medical field. Not to mention all of the tiny hospitals out there with limited resources and specialists.

It makes me think twice about not testing my deer…but I'm definitely more likely to die driving on the way to hunt than from eating an infected deer.

Don't forget on the way back. More likely to die from the dumb bast**D in the Whitehouse presently.

I've watched a lot of zombie movies from when the original ones came out. "Walking dead" was it? Those things ran like an Olympic sprinter! You'd be lucky to get a mag change in time for the next group of them.
That is the image being portrayed to me I reckon. Zombies on four hooves infecting humans. Repeat over and over.
