Bergara Crest Carbon

I just ordered a Tikka T3X Lite Roughtech 6.5 Creedmoor. Was trying to decide with the Bergara. Guess I chose the right one?

The idea of a carbon barrel intrigues me. How is this different from a steel barrel?

Ok. Wilderness B14 is 6.0lbs. Tikka T3x Roughtech at 6.6. I do like the idea of a lighter weight barrel.

I'd buy a Tikka any day over a Bergara.

I'm in the middle of a fight with Bergara on a rifle that is total **** and even went back to them and passed their inspection with serious defects. Had to threaten legal action to get them to own up to their *** that I received.

They're only lighter for contour. There are plenty of steel barrels that are significantly lighter than CF barrels.

I also don't buy that they stay cooler. My experience is that they take just as long to cool as a similar contour steel barrel and significantly longer to cool than a similar weight steel barrel. They also put off a crap ton of mirage compared to a steel barrel.

The only real advantage to CF wrapped is the stiffness for the weight. They are stiffer than a similar weight steel barrel.
