Your most accurate rifle....

Our 6.5/284 Norma Savage....set-up for LR! My most (and only) hunting rifle, semi-custom, 9 pound, 375 AI., sub-two inch groups (3 shots) at 300 yards.....when all of the planets align! memtb

6.5x47 built by RBros. Shoots the 130 Berger at 2950 fps very accurately. Haven't even looked for a different load, as this is what Travis recommended. Shoots so good I don't think I could improve it.

For me it's a tie between my 6.5x55 and my 243. Both have put rounds in tight and both have dropped animals easily. The Swede is a model 70 w/ a Pacnor barrel pushing the 142 Gr Accubond LR out at 2800. I've also put 5 in .33" group so, it will shoot when i do my part.
The 243 is a straight-off-the shelf Vanguard w/ a 199.00 Bushnell scope. It's printed a 5 shot group at .33" as well. I have a picture I've posted before of 4 shots inside of half of a business card at 500 yards. This one puts the 90 Gr. Accubond down the spout at 3200.

220 swift, Ruger heavy barrel factory rifle. Purchased in about 1972. Today it Will shoot .235 when I can do it, at hundred. Shooting R-15 Barnes 53 gr. TSX Flat base 3915 FPS. This rifle has accounted for 18 deer in its life time, some by other family members. Last deer my dad took with it when he was 83 years old. Shot was about 250 yds and he Hit it at the base of the ear. Impressed the heck out of me. The bullet I was using then was a Sierra and 4895 powder 3645fps. My wife shot a deer at 433 yds. I walked her through aiming process, deer was angled and head down hill. She smacked it just behind the left rear rib and I found the bullet opposite side of the neck when I skinned it. I could go on but I won't. Never lost a deer with it, most dropped in their tracks.

223MRI ,limited edition 400yds 50 V-max 3425 tmv 5 shots=O.551 my reload . To many 3 shot diamonds at 100 yds,243 ,708,7rem/mag 270WCF,270WSM,308,30/06,7STW,338win/mag. When I'm at the range it's me ,myself n I,all trying to out shot myself and my reloads .

Gap-10 6.5 creedmoor, GA Precision

Shot a .151" CTC group with factory 129gr SST's first time out with it. Averages in the .2's and .3's with factory 143 ELD-X ammo.

Most accurate rifle I have but also the heaviest by 3.5lbs.

I have 4 hunting rifles that will shoot less than 1/10th MOA. I build all of my rifles and sometimes they surprise me. My best group ever was my 416 Buff, Using 400 grain bullets. It shot a .034 thousandths group (With witnesses) We Measured the group 4 times and the worst/largest measurement was .450 - .416 = .034. The smallest measurement was .448 so I used the largest measurement to be conservative. .448 - 416 = .032 thousandths.

It is not the most fun rifle I have, but it is the most accurate.

****, the only way I could shoot that is to tape the target to the barrel!

Don't worry, It doesn't happen very often. But I do spend a lot of time developing the best load for the rifle, And sometimes only gain a few thousandths. I can no longer shoot like I use to being 77, so I rely on the rifle, load and testing set up to help me shoot better.

Like others, My starting requirement for accuracy is less than 1/2 MOA. If a rifle wont shoot better than that, I haven't done my job building it.

I also take great pains to set the rifle up for testing so I can see any difference In the loads tested. It doesn't take much effort to shoot 1 MOA. It takes quite a bit to shoot 1/2 MOA. Going from 1/2 to 1/4 MOA takes a lot of time and care, But when trying to consistently stay below 1/4 MOA there is no limit on time and desire that has to be there to accomplish this quality of accuracy.

Sometimes we luck Into a 1/4 MOA rifle and load. Other times we have to work very hard to get there. when you get below 1/10th MOA
it is very rewarding as long as the shooter realizes "He" wont be able to do that every time even though the rifle will.

I'm not much of a shooter, I lack the form and discipline to shoot a (relatively) light rifle with much consistency. I can always maintain 6" groups at 500 with this rifle off my pack, and that's all I'm really after, it's an awesome carry rifle and it flat out hammered the two critters I have shot at.
