seriously? no elk pics from page 4 on?

i'd better fix that... (even if they are pics from 2010)

this wasn't very long range (12 yds), but entirely homemade bow & arrows (steel bh's- got no time to knap)

archerycow.jpg

and this wasn't much over 75 yards, but i first saw him at ~900yds- it was a long pack out!

technically, they're two of my latest hunts since i had to pretty much skip last season...

Moki, great looking bear!

I've gotta ask.... the caption states "Rem 700 in 375 RUM" yet the fella in the pic is holding a lever gun...? Did I miss something?

Thats me in the pic... :)

I shot the bear @ 9:15pm was dark 3/4 hour later so after waiting 1/2 hour we headed into the thick bush after about 10 yards and barely being able to see my son who was walking only 8 yards to my right due to how thick the bush was I called him out and we headed back to camp.

We came back in the morning with my Marlin 1895GS 45-70 loaded with 525gr Beartooth Piledriver's @ 1600fps my son was carrying his 8.5" barreled Rem 870 12 gauge (legal here in Canada) loaded with 3" Brennekke slugs.

My son was carrying my Rem 700 LSS in 300RUM loaded with 200gr A-Frames @ 3200fps when I shot the bear.

Hope that clarifies any questions...

:) Yessir! Just struck me as odd when I read 375RUM & see a Marlin in the pic!:D Just curiousity on my part.

So I arrived home a few nights ago from a friends place and heard a coyote barking out behind the house. I ran inside, grabbed the .260AI and climbed onto the shipping container behind the house, I couldn't see him right away because of the high grass but found him moving into a dried up area beside a slough(thats a swamp for you eastern folks). I pulled out the range finder, ranged him at 505 meters, dialed up 2.1 mil on the USO and let her buck. He dropped in his tracks. I retrieved him about 2 hours later as I had to go into the house to eat dinner and see the kids.

I love that pause between boooooom and smack!

Here are a couple pics:
