Your latest hunt pİcs

All these deer pictures made me dig back to November. This was the first game animal I took with the Ruger FTW 260. I can't find the range but it was just almost too late to shoot at around 300yds if I remember right. Was very disappointed in the Federal Premium loaded with the Sierra Game King bullet. Kind of embarrassed to even post it. He was though a neat buck with a mainframe 10pt rack plus 2 kickers that don't show up well at that angle but it's the best angle I have. I spent the rest of the season making war on our overpopulation of does and a few nice hogs.

Fortunately we saved a little of that shoulder by soaking it for 3 days in iced brine water but what a mess.

What was left of the bullet, in pieces.

And a little sow I was able to get a decent shot at with my little S&W M&P15.

I picked up 2 more after dark that died in the same "flush" so to speak but recovering them was more of a chore and I didn't take any pictures.

This was the first hog taken with the M&P so it was noteworthy enough for a quickie.:D She's no trophy but we got a nice ham and about 30 or 40lbs of sausage that was just great. Sows like this get stunted because they breed as young as 6 months of age or even younger when there are lots of boars around.

The scope is a Trijicon Accupoint 1-6x24 which I've grown to love as a great AR and DG scope. I've shot it out to 400yds on coyotes with no problems at all and at as few as 10 yards in low light. I now have them on both AR's Smith & Sig516 and my .375 Ruger. Great scope for the money and you never have to worry about a dead battery at a critical moment.

That's an awfully interesting rack. What species is he?

EDTA: I think I figured it out, he's the Fallow?

Yes sir, he's a young one from what I've read on them. Their racks don't get plated until they're 4 years old. I would have mistaken him for a sika if my dad hadn't seen him the evening before at a different spot.

He'll be something special in a couple of years. I would have guessed Sika too if you hadn't said "Fallow" in your post. Reading back it made perfect sense.

That fallow deer picture was supposed to follow the 4pt cull I took. There were 3 does with him two were dark like him and the other was the more common color that's similar to Axis deer.

Patience gets a whole lot easier on your own place when you get to enjoy watching them grow. I laugh because I always end up with a couple of young deer, usually first year bucks that by the end of the season are about half tame because they know if they stay on my place they're safe.

They learn fast as they grow up though. Still fun.

Not a beast but a rare for around here piebald. Also my longest shot on a whitetail. 600 yards 7mm magnum 168 Berger VLD from a stock winchester model 70 stainless. Leupold Vari x 6 4-24 10.7 MOA

Both 10 y/o grandsons shot first deer this year. He shot this one with a 243 at 308 yards using 95gr Berger

Considering I can't draw a tag to save my life, my kids all get to have their pictures here. Had a great b year last fall.

1. 14 year old daughter, cow elk, 75 yards, 7RM w. 180 Hybrid

2. 14 year old daughter, mule deer buck, 637 yards, 6.5 SLR w. 127 Barnes LRX

3. Son-in-law, bull elk, 437 yards, .300RUM w. 215 Hybrid

Normally would have let this guy walk, but it was the only buck I saw in camp this year. In fact it was the only buck killed in camp for three weeks post rut. Hunted hard for three days, and on a sunday evening with only 2 minutes of legal shooting time left, I caught him cruising the edge of a grass field headed for some cut beans just behind me.

Caught this lone boar tearing up my neighbors' round bales last night. The haystacks set right in the middle of his calving trap so after spotting him I had to just grab the rifle and a flashlight and sneak around to where I thought he'd run when the headlights hit him.

I ended up walking in nearly right on top of him but fortunately he bolted and ran dead away. I just held the light in the crotch of my thumb while getting the crosshairs on him and when he hung a hard left at about 40 yards put a 183gr Peregrine VLR right through the shoulders and spine. Could believe the bullet held up at an impact velocity that had to be right at 3,200fps but indeed it did. As usual we got the same 1-2 finger diameter exit. I figured if I was ever going to blow one up that would have been the one to do it but it performed perfectly.

Live weight he was around 350lbs so I had to go back to town and get the little truck with the ATV and trailer to get him loaded.

Long night but it sure was fun! Sorry for the poor picture quality.

Heres some antelope me and my fiance killed last fall with a 6.5 saum. The highlight of the trip was when I proposed and she said yes. She shot hers at 725 yards and dropped it in its tracks. The others in the group stuck around so I grabbed the gun and dropped one at 675yds. The buck in the pic I shot at 610 yards and it dropped in its tracks. We got some more on that trip at 750 and 1200 yards. 140 hybrids at 3030 fps performed flawlessly leaving baseball size exit holes. The whitetails in the pic were shot last weekend with my wedding present I made for my fiance and me. It was alot easier to get to OK to build it when I told her it was for both of us, lol. My future brother in law was with me on that hunt. Gun is a 6.5 saum in a Kelbly atlas tactical, manners folding eh1a stock, 24" brux barrel, Vortex AMG and TBAC ultra 7 suppressor. Heres the load I settled on for the gun. 3 shots .198"@100 yards off the bipod. 61.0 gr of h1000, fed 215m primer and 140 hybrids .015 off the lands.
