Dream hunt would be elk in either Wyoming or Colorado.

Rifle would be my Weatherby Mark V Weathermark LT in 7mm Weatherby.

North American 29! Kustom built pre-64 Winchester model 70, octagon .338 win mag. 4.5-14 Leupold, 210gr nosler partitions. Obviously would be a 3-5 year plan, but i dream BIG.

I would love to get an African Lion. If it were at all possible, at longer range with a Desert Tech HTI in 416 Barrett. However, I would more likely go for a Mountain Lion in one of the western states with my old M1 Garand that my Dad got for me when I turned 14 (I'm not normal) but I do have a lot of fond memories of shooting that rifle, and loosing my hearing!

My dream hunt is going to happen again hopefully next year .I am going back to alaska where I lived 12 years I was made for that place .I want to hunt moose again and use my 348-378 weathetby accumsrk that was made for wrathetby by Seco in Maine. THAT rifle has shot some .25 groups at 100 yards and 1 inch at 300 yards .I might change my scope but we will see it has a Nikon 6x20 Japanese scope on it but these days I need a 50 mm scope .I have a new 6x24 x50 Nikon 30 mm x50 mm scope that's awesome. I GOTTA get back up there before I get too old .I hope all of yall get to go on your dream hunts too .

I am going on my hunt of a lifetime this September in Alaska for moose. The goal is for a 60" or larger bull. I bought a tikka 3X lite .300 wsm 24.3" stainless steel barrel and topped it with a Leupold vx-5HD 3-15X44 using a spuhr one piece mount and shooting factory (sorry reloading community) 200 grain Federal Terminal Ascent. Started planning this trip during covid and just bought place tickets on Tuesday. Flying into Fairbanks and then out into the bush for up to three weeks. Landing in a lake, portaging a half mile to a river to start our hunt, around 15 miles of river, and then a mile back out to another lake about one mile portage to get picked up and flown back out. Just me and a good friend. Also, bringing my 44 mag for grizzly protection, if needed. I will turn 54 years old during that hunt, had a kidney transplant around 14 years ago and I'm doing well. This will certainly be my last chance to do a hunt like this for several reasons. Working on getting in better shape every day and I've spent the last couple of years refining gear. Keeping things light so will be sleeping in a hammock. No sleeping bag only a down over and under quits(s). I have tested and good down to 20°. Wish I could get a grizzly and wolf tag, but the thought of packing out to moose and all of our gear that distance combined with the additional costs are going to limit me to a moose. My advice to anyone would be start planning, saving and preparing well in advance, and make your dream a reality.

I would stay here in North America and give Big Horn Sheep a try. I would take my Vanguard .270 Win (tack driver) and my camera. Can't say which I would shoot with. I find Big Horns so majestic, I don't know if I could take one, but would love the opportunity.

I'd like to call in a mountain lion. Always been a dream, but can't seem to get it done.
At 76 I've taken pretty much all I need. Focusing on the granddaughter who seems to love hunting and fishing…thrills my heart! January 2025 I've booked her a West Texas Aoudad hunt. Got to get her shooting out to 400 yards by then using her 7mm-08 Tikka.

Great to read what others would do for their dream hunt. Brings a lot of ideas I've never even thought of!! My dream hunt would not be for any specific animal but rather just to be in a remote mountain range somewhere with a nice cabin and an unlimited amount of land to hunt. My gun would be my 300 wsm. A trophy elk or moose would be super nice but just the experience would be all I need. A nice fishing spot would also be on the list lol!!

Bull tahr in the peaks of New Zealand with bow. Looks difficult as heck and remote as a guy could ask for. But since this is a rifle forum and I had to chose a rifle I'd go with a 6 dasher. Low recoil a wildcat cartridge in a wild hunting place and let's be real it's bull tahr on top of a mountain peak probably won't have a good rest or comfortable shooting position and if I had to make a follow up shot I want that low recoil to get on target again as fast as possible

Definitely would be a Stone Sheep hunt. I've wanted to hunt them since I was 8-10yrs old. I'll be 60 in a couple months and with the way that hunt has skyrocketed in price, I'll never make it. My 2nd would be Mtn. Goat here in Nv. This will be my last year to apply since we're moving to E. Tn in the near future. My 28 Nosler is my big game weapon of choice these days.

What part of E. TN? We are around Cumberland Gap.

Mine might sound stupid to most of you, but really any western critter with my kids. Really don't care about which rifle, I love em all. Just a good hunt that I can spend time with the kids and hopefully bring some meat and hopefully some decent horns home. I don't need a trophy just something nice to have the memories of the time with them.

I agree!! Any hunt with the kids is good.
Middle kid got his first moose in 22, and first buck in 23. All I did was hunt with him but definitely enjoyed it.

Might surprise you the cost of Africa vs Alaska particularly for plains game. Taxidermy and shipping might be the biggest Africa costs. If/when I return to Africa it will be with only photos and memories…unless I get a leopard! LOL!
