Wyo Task Force - Nonres Comments!

Let me clarify my interest in this situation. I feel Federal lands were bought for the use of the citizens of the USA. So when a state like Wyoming is 48 % federal land I feel as a tax paying american I should have equal rights to use that land. Like I said in an earlier post tags issued for that 48% should be available to any tax paying citizen of the USA.
It doesn't matter what state you live in they are Federal lands bought and owned by ALL tax paying American citizens.
Nobody's saying you can't use wyoming federal land, stay on track its about WYOMINGS GAME ANIMALS

And as a non resident who ALWAYS applied for "Special" licence, I contributed enough $$$$ to Wyoming to have bought 5 lifetimes of Resident licenses….

Seriously though…….
What is the difference between THIS discussion and someone saying "I like to smoke marijuana and my state allows it, so why can't I go to Utah (pot's ILLEGAL there) and smoke all I want???"

My guess is he's talking about overall hunters period. Theres only so many animals to go around so as residents increase and put pressure on animal numbers you have to do something to sustain animal herds. I know wolves and bears numbers I agree way to many but thats another topic.
Like I said earlier montana had a 12% increase this year and ill bet good money it will be another 12% or more next year and I bet wyoming is seeing a big increase in resident sales.
Thank you for the explanation , I've never been one for putting political pressure on game commissions . So as you might imagine I made no call to the task force . If rather see the fish and game departments manage by the science and data not because it keeps hunters happy. My only thought on this is where do we draw the line ? Do we stop out of staters because they are nonresidents from drawing tags , what about out of county , because you live on the plains of Wyoming or the bad lands do you not get to apply for a moose or sheep tag ? It's a slippery slope to venture in the locals rule attitude . One thing I do agree with is let the residents make the rules for their home state !

So because you might have deeper pockets then me it gives you more entitlement to hunt the state I live in?
Its exactly what I see, the herds in Wyoming, Montana and Idaho are coming under overpressure by the insurgent out of state people moving in so there wanting to reduce NR tags to offset the pressure by now residents to try and maintain healthy herds and because NR hunters spend X amount of dollars they are still entitled to same amount of tags.

Thank you. I think that you hit the mail one he head with that last post

Quite a big difference , no one is talking about doing something illegal in Wyoming . Its more like saying I smoke pot in your state because it's legal but its legal in my state too but we made it illegal to smoke pot for nonresidents because there is not enough pot for us as it is!

I'm bowing out of this discussion. To all of you complaining about this possible change in WGFD's quotas, I sincerely hope you draw licence the next time you apply here and have the best hunts of your lives.
All of us as Americans should have a right to agree to disagree or at least see things somewhat differently and still see the big picture fundamentally the same way. Regards to all involved in this debate!!

Not to mention all the good private land being swallowed up and leased out that as kids we hunted for years until hunting became the cool thing for the bored rich to do. And I can't blame the ranchers for leasing it out for the ridiculous prices they pay. So as these private lands get leased up residents are forced to hunt more on the public lands, which in turn puts more pressure on those herds.
