will the pending ban affect the bolt action aftermarket?

Really guys !? Last I checked there is no way in hades a gun ban is getting through the house and I would be surprised if it could pass in the senate. Then there is the 5 to 4 majority in the supreme court that just established the legal interpretation that the 2nd amendment guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms. Take a deep breath and calm down. Fienstien is going to blow hard and raise a bunch of money but her bill is going nowhere.

i really hope your right about that, however, people like us use logic and common sense on a daily basis and we look to our leaders to do the same and they do the opposite, i dont know about you, but im not looking for them to use common sense when feinsteins bill gets voted on. the only thing we can hope for is the fact that republicans are still the majority of the house. i was watching fox news earlier today and they were talking about gun control and they stated that on jan 1st 2013 9 people were murdered in chicago il, thats actually not the scary part, the mayor is baffled how that could have happened considering there strict gun control laws. im beyond scared right now

We all better hope you're right. After this past November, I'm not so sure about anything anymore.

Firearm owners and pro-gunners are going to have to stand together in some sort of vote at some point, so if you're serious, get involved with your congress person. Treasury Secretary Geitner said a couple of years ago, the 2nd amendment either didn't assure of the right to bare arms or it was unconstitutional. These people want a submissive electorate, they see Socialism as the only way out of the economic mess we are in. Even the Republicans are buckling for votes on issues. It's going to take a grass root effort on our part and potentially boycotting other products to make the consumer understand how people feel about their rights in this country. They are starting to control every aspect of what we do. They are even going to ban smoking in your own home! They got a depression last time they went after vices 1925-33, maybe that's what they think is going to happen now. I think they are worried that in a depression, hard assets like gold and guns are valuable to have. Afterall, food gets scarce and poverty brings more crime. I'm bunkering down baby, Obama knows this country's in a hole. He's afraid this place will look like Greece pretty soon. Then what?

No, on your bolt actions.

Don't think there will be any BILL!

I see you are upset. Thats not your usual post. You paragraph and punctuate much better usually.... I feel your pain. It was really brought home to me today.

I spent the afternoon with my attorney (who happens to be a fellow shooter that I shoot with and another friend too. He owns the shop where I buy most all of my rifles and pistols and is also a personal friend. He informed both of us that he's read the Feinstein Bill in it's entirety (or as much as a citizen can read of it) and....

It not only basically bans semi-automatic 'assault' type rifles, but just about every semi automatic, plus bolt action rifles with detachable magazines, pump shotguns, hand guns and pistols with detachable magazines and here's the best part.... (If there is a best part)..... Feinstein wants the government to censure and make illegal any activity that promotes the sale or implementation of firearms, simply put, no gun magazines, no gun shows, no sports mens clubs, no forums, nothing related to firearms whatsoever. In other words, the end.....

Basically, it amputates our sport and pastime at the knees, with a dull hatchet.

Finally, those firearms that Feinstein wants banned, can't be sold, transferred to another owner but have to be forfeited to the government upon the death of the owner. I take that as meaning they get them for zilch.

This whole thing is crazy but remember it was Feinstein who collaborated with Clinton on the Clinton Era gun ban, never forget that. As much as I don't want to see it, I think it has a **** good chance of passing because it's all about Obama's vision for one and two, he's a lame duck, he's not electable again so he might as well ram through what he wants to.

There is a whole lot more, like the 200 dollar per gun registration but thats for another time....

I feel everyone's pain.....

So in other words... she wants to hatchet both the 1st and 2nd amendments... well good luck with that. I won't be giving up or registering any guns... nor will I stop participating in gun promoting activities. They can just drag my carcass off to jail and feed and care for me instead of me feeding and caring for their welfare state.

Not she, them. The whole lot of them. It's not just her. Newton is nothing more than an excuse, an excuse to exercise their will on the citizens. It's coming. The NRA and other groups may stall it, but eventually it (gun control) will occur. It already is here to some extent, it's going to get a whole lot more constraining.

Far as what you do or aspire to do, the government already knows what you have, registered or not, if you discussed it anywhere, on any public forum, on facebook, or linkden, or anywhere. Your transmissions are constantly monitored for content, cell phone too. Has been for a while now.

The current administration cares less about the First, Second or any Amendment to the Constitution, in fact, they want to rewrite it.

How do you think I feel. I have an extensive collection of firearms, not just a couple and most will be outlawed. I'm faced with paying a 200 dollar per firearm charge for each plus fingerprinting and background check, for each. Thats almost 80 grand in just registrations plus the firearms won't be worth anything because they can't be sold and must be turned over to the government to be destroyed upon my death.

I'd love to fly under the radar on this, but I don't see that happening. It's what the 'majority' of citizens want. We, as gun owners are a distinct minority, majority still rules, last time I checked.......

Marine Writes Letter to Sen. Dianne Feinstein:

"I own the guns I own because I acknowledge mankind's shortcomings instead of pretending like they don't exist. There are evil men in this world and there just may be a time when I need to do the unthinkable to protect me or my family," Boston said.
......................................................................

Sure hope these people in Washington can see that they need to solve the real problems and not keep blaming the GUN! About as smart as blaming the car that he drove to the school. DUH!!!

Don't like to see things pushed this far. Looks like 2013 is going to be a GIANT "FRI the 13th". It's just a TAX by another name!

Don't think it will stop there (this current ban attempt). In Scotland, they are trying to (if they have not already) ban air-rifles.

Some lowlife did something horrible with one, and then they use that as an excuse to ban all of them.

Are we as a society going to use the worst criminals and sociopaths as the bar to set our freedoms? In other words, what would the worst person in the world do if they have a freedom? Really, then the logical step is to ban all freedom.

It happens, creates tons of paperwork, loss of freedoms, creates criminals out of normally law abiding people, and punishes all of society for the crimes of the worst.

I heard of a prisoner killing someone with a toothbrush! Should all free people be banned from using tooth brushes?

Let's say they do get this ban passed, violent crime will at least for a while increase. (Criminals will know it is relatively safe to attack). Are the people in power going to take some responsibility for it? NO! Will the media report it? NO! They will continue calling each other heroes!

This has to stop!

Good Post! Thanks for posting that.

That would backfire in a hugely massive way. When I was in college I did a study on the financial impact of the hunting industry alone. Nation wide hunting generates, a full 2% of the GNP, add in magazines, recreational shooting, and what have you ( not going to work up the list here) and the impact could easily double or more. Hell I say go for it ya old hag, please do you'll turn out to be the 2nds biggest proponent when the dust settles.

Guys, Just a thought here, and I am not jumping on anybody here so please know that upfront.

We all need to be very careful to not look at this with common sense and convince ourselves that this thing can't happen. I agree with many things here, like it would hurt the economy too much so it won't happen, it won't pass congress, more people like gun ownership than we think, etc. These are all good points. But we need to look at the recent past to see what has happened in this country that many thought were impossible. Health care was/is/ and will always be a huge detriment to its sector of the economy but it passed anyway. The recent tax increases/fiscal cliff disaster will be a drag on the economy. It should have never passed the house but it did. With the condition of our economy and country our current prez should have never been re-elected but then again we live in a country where most folks don't have the foggiest idea about anything anymore. They just want more free stuff.

My point is simply this. We need to act and work like WE are the only ones that are going to keep this from happening, and hope some of the other things are there to help bolster our efforts.

I agree with Scott here 200% on the entire post.
