Why shoot a sissy rifle?

I do hand load. I have a good assortment of projectiles available but have only loaded 140 eldm and 140 BT so far.
I've been using my 7-08 for so many years it's tough to go deer hunting without it.
Kind of like an old faithful hunting dog.
I know several guys that use one and have never heard any complaints. It's very capable.

I've considered more than once building one on a longer action, putting a longish barrel on it, throating it for 162 eldm's, and using it for hunting at longish ranges.

And…..some are wounded just fine! 😉 But, they rarely post that on forums! ☹️ memtb
That's kind of like all those 60 and 70 yard shots at turkeys with TSS. Has it revolutionized turkey hunting with sub gauges? Certainly has. Will it kill a turkey at those ranges? I'm sure it can and has. Has it crippled birds at those ranges , and at longer ranges since out that far the difference in 70 and 80 or 90 yards is hard to discern? You'll never get me to believe that it hasn't since nobody's going to brag about that.

So what we need is a turkey load for the 6.5 CM.... then we wouldn't have to worry about discerning 70, 80 or 90 yds. It will revolutionize turkey hunting as a sport... in fact it'll probably take all the sport out of it. Maybe that's what happened to the dinosaurs?

In all seriousness, I'm not crazy about TSS range claims and that taking the sport out of calling gobblers in close. If folks are taking birds at 75 yds regularly then it will really be a turkey shoot. Kinda like shooting deer over a pile a corn. Where's the challenge in that? Take that sissy rifle to the range and practice picking off deer at distances the rifle is capable of... There. That ought to stir the pot and push this thread a few more pages... lol

TSS shot shells from a 6.5 CM would be the end of turkey hunting.
I switched to a 20 gauge using TSS last year and it pattern's very good at 50 yards. I enjoy the hunt more than the shooting and strive to get them inside of 30 yards. A good pattern at 50 is great at 30. I shot my bird at around 30 yards last spring and there wasn't one pellet in the breast.

Right 2 mile shots on turkeys…

Back in the fall after I failed to call in a bird close enough for a shot, I was looking at picking up a box of Remington TSS for the spring Turkey season but I couldn't get myself to pay the price ($60/box). I still have a few boxes of lead loads for my 20ga I probably won't use up anytime soon.

Add 1000fps to that and that's where I like it 😂
