Why shoot a sissy rifle?

Are you using the 129 SST?
I have a box of these but haven't got around to working on a load for them yet.

IF you've got an "Accurate", 140 grain, Load,.. just Back Off about, a grain to, a grain & a Half and Use, the TOUGHER, thicker Jacketed,..
143 gr., ELD-X's !
I Use, 43.3 gr's "Thrown Charges" ( Work up,.. CAREFULLY ) of StaBall 65 with, the 143's and get, 1/2 to, 5/8th MOA groups, easily !
( Tikka, T-3 Lite, SS 24" Rifle, of, Course ! )
Peterson Brass, F-210 M Pr's, COAL 2.835" + 43.3 StaBall 65 = 2,725 - 2,735 FPS.
The 7mm-08 IS, a Sweet Cart,. also !

As far as, I've Known, it HAS Been, .037 thick,.. since, a Long Time, ago. But IDK for sure, as I've been shooting the 6.5 Creed about, 5 years, Now.
The ELD-M's are .023 thick.
I use, the 130 gr. ELD-M's for Target, Varmint and LR Steel BUT, will Hunt with, the 143 gr ELD-X's for the Added Penetration IF, needed, on Bone !
the 130's have a .554 BC and with, a Brake at 2,800 + FPS they practically Have,.. NO Recoil !

Brother, I wish I had time to work on loads for Creedmoor. I found a good one about 6 years ago. Stuck with it but so many powders and bullets combos I wanted to test. Too many calibers and cartridges to do same it got put on the back burner. I like the little Tikka t3 lite 6.5 Needmoor a lot for what I used it for but haven't shot it since 2022. And before that 2018. All whitetail does . It's a sweet shooting round.

Update, after further review of the deceased groundhog, it appears the 6.5 Creedmoor may not have been responsible. The tracks in the snow and the feathers next to the carcass indicate a possible territory dispute between the 2 bald eagles in the tree and the groundhog. We may never know the true cause of death!

The eagles seem to be claiming the kill though??

Well I found something else that the
HOT 6.5 Creedmore is good for.
This morning I started to clear the Snow off my truck and I stopped and thought I'm going to get that HOT Creedmore and just set it against my truck and it should melt the snow off..
So I got my Tractor and plowed my road, might have taken a couple hours, got back to my truck and HOLY SNOW MELT.
CREEDMORE STRIKES AGAIN.

No. I've been shooting Hornady's Am. Whitetail factory ammo. It uses the same principle Interlock design as the SST from my understanding but runs 100 fps or so less. I think you'll see better results with the SST on paper but let's be honest, whitetails aren't that hard to kill under 300 yd and both are still going to hit with enough energy to do the job. You might see more "boom-flop" kills as my son calls them (DRT) with the SST. I'd be curious though to see how your load development turns out.

There are real advantages with the 6.5 needs moor for the non-reloader. With so many factory loads you are bound to find a load for most, any task you can think of.Then of course the reloader can always dial an the load to a greater degree with a alternate projectile or even step the load down if so desired.

As a archery hunter on the other hand I do subscribe to using an adult arrow (arrow near or above 650 grains total arrow weight) I like to tip the adult arrow with a 200 grain long single bevel 2 blade broad head. My arrow speed may not exceed 230 FPS, yet it gets the job done with little fuss.

I always did very well with 10 to 11 grains per pound of bow weight shooting either a 56 or 65 pound Black Widow or my homemade 57lb longbow with Zwickey Eskimo 4 blades and carbon or aluminum arrows. I used some Grizzlies and Ribtek heads too. I liked a heavier arrow when shooting wood. My arrow speed was a blistering 168fps. These were death on hogs unless you got the shield. The shield on a big boar will amaze you at what it can stop. Won't stop a Creedmore though. No way.

Did some shooting with my 6.5 Creedmoor and went in the house to get a drink, came back out and looked through the scope to see a dead groundhog in the snow 210 yards from the end of the barrel. I'm not saying my 6.5 Creedmoor shot itself but there it was!!!

Maybe just the sheer sight of my Creedmoor was the cause of death?

So it's a good varmint rifle?
