As a fair comparison, a 160 grain .277 bullet, G1BC 0.434 going 2700 fps has energy = 2213 at 100 yards.
A 140 grain 6.5 bullet, G1BC 0.5 going 2700 fps has energy = 2266 at the muzzle.
At 400 yards,
.277 (160 grain) would have energy =1334
6.5 (140 grain) energy = 1281
pretty close?
and at 400 yards, a .277 180 grain Woodleigh G1BC 0.5 would have energy = 1647
if you could get it going 2700 fps.
