Hey....new to the forum. Sounds like a great place according to my new friend at the shooting range. He directed me here for the ballistics calculator.
Anyhoo - I drew a General Wyoming tag and leave tomorrow. A couple good friends have been scouting 3 areas for me the last 2 months and I'm having some sleepless nights - the anticipation is killing me.
Shooting a Marlin 1895 (22") with 300 grain Nosler Partition and 55 grains of H4198. Just got back from the range and she's zeroed for 200 yards, 4.5" high at 100.
Been training and exercising since May. There's a chance we'll have to hoof the elk quarters out of the back country, so I wanted to be prepared. Last night I dragged a 71 pound pack around the neighborhood for 60 minutes. Grueling, but worth every minute as I ponder those delicious cuts of meat in my freezer.
Oh, the things we do to ourselves for this stupid sport!
