Who hunts with a chassis

I've written about chassis here and on other forums for all the time I've been shooting with them. I like most designs although I've modified a couple to improve a design so they work better for me.

This is my very most favorite chassis for hunting, target shooting and other forms of competition:

It is comfortable, adjustable to suit the changing needs of competition formats, and has the weight I like to help defeat cartridges with greater recoil energy. It is NOT lightweight, it is NOT cheap but like the best tools, it stands up to all the uses I choose to put it through. It's not for everyone but it is my favorite.

I hunt in the cold, snow and ice as well as on the desert and in the rain. Never have I had an occurrence of a breakdown or discomfort from cold. Learn how to work with the elements and prepare for the environment. Embrace the challenges and enjoy being outside!:D;)

Barreled Action - 5.08 lbs
BA + Chassis - 9.31 lbs
BA + Chassis + NF Optic (30oz) + Bipod - 12.47 lbs

Great rig for hunting.

I work outside all year long in a very cold area with metal tools and such.
Pretty sure an aluminium chassis isn't going to bother me

Doesn't change the fact that heat conductivity will be higher than with a non-metal stock. When it's 15F and you are in a stand situation where you have to hold the rifle and can't set it down this makes a difference. There is some geographical context here but for some of us it's an important consideration. If you are in a tree stand, and a deer could pop out 50 yards away, you can't set your rifle down anywhere. You need to be ready. For hours.

Have you actually had to hold a metal rifle in such a situation?

If you have MLOK I believe you can get inserts, such as Magpul. I have not tried but am soon looking at options.
 
Ive bowhunted like that for hrs,but hung bow on limb or nail etc.Never cost me a shot.160-70 type whiteys Some chassis have a carbon front wrap,most look like a many option rubber grip like on many pistol.Id like make a reasonable light one in a 6.5 for varmits

Not a firearm, but a metal riser bow in much colder temps.
