People that want to say that the situation is purposely being caused by the ammo manufacturing companies for whatever reason, are free to raise a few hundred million dollars to start a new ammo manufacturing business. If what you believe is true, and you are willing to sell everything to distributors, you should make a fortune, right? Just don't expect a bailout from the government when things stabilize, and you suddenly can't sell enough product to keep up the payments on all the brand new manufacturing equipment you bought.

There is more than one Liberal Billionaire that has enough money to manipulate the stock market. And they have, more than once. Those same folks could also cause trouble in this market if they are so inclined. Makes one wonder who is behind the "Bots" on the internet? It ain't peasants.

It is nerds in their mother's basement. It really isn't that hard to do for people with SW engineering skills.
I don't get how the same people that talk about and believe how inept the government is (which is true) also believe there is some deep state ******** going on that is being hidden from 350M people and has the help of tons of private companies, yet somehow has no leaks or people who are against it standing up or speaking out.
Trying to figure out how to beat the stock market, even through nefarious means, is not a political issue. Both sides of the aisle are covered there.
This thread has gone full potato.

It is going to be a gun buyers market with no ammo, just imagine!
We have a shortage of some powders , and a good supply of others, but our primer supply is good. As of this posting I can't think of any primer I could not get. Some bullets are harder to get than others but overall not bad. Same for brass.

Ok boys and girls. I just left the Remington plant. Anyone want to know what the real deal is? This is what they told me, and I feel pretty good that they were being straight with me. Known these folks for a long time. They have no 12ga powder, they are missing a chemical they need to make primers, and are short on some other raw materials and components. All of it is sitting on 12 container ships moored off the coast of California. The US Government won't let them dock and unload. They have no idea when or if they will allow them to unload. I would assume there is also materials for other ammo manufacturers on these same boats since they use the same vendors a lot. This would explain a lot. Remember when Hodgdon couldn't get any powder for awhile during Obama when they pulled the same stunt and wouldn't let them unload? There was a big discussion of it with Tom at the World Championships that year. Everyone was blaming it on him.
The high end presses and parts aren't being bought by the new loaders, it's by the experienced loaders who're upgrading their equipment and selling their old stuff to the new guys. I know people who suddenly see a market to become a licensed ammo manufacturer and dropped thousands of dollars on equipment back in March of last year and got their FFL paperwork started as soon as they saw the shortages stop. These are the same guys who'll pay what seem like ridiculous prices for primers on gunbroker. Think about it, if you were normally paying $0.03 per primer and the price goes up to $0.10 each, your total cost per round loaded hasn't gone up by a huge percentage because the primer is the least expensive component in a completed round. Increase the cost per round by 20% and people will still be knocking down your door to get the ammo. So all a guy has to do is invest a couple grand into high end equipment, source the components (even at inflated prices) and get a license and you're guaranteed to make a decent profit right now.
Have you looked into bullet swaging equipment lately? I was looking into buying a full kit from Corbin a few months back to make heavy 6.5 and 270 bullets to replace the (no longer available) Matix bullets I was shooting previously. It can be 12 months to get the equipment right now. I'm not sure if you've priced a full kit including a press, dies, jackets, cores, and all the other tools and supplies; but this was going to be an investment of nearly $10K. And that's back ordered for nearly a year!
There are plenty of entrepreneurs who saw an opportunity to make money here, and they're not all big companies or people with ties to the government or the manufacturers. These are shooters and business savvy investors who found a way to make some money by timing a very specific market. I'm just mad that I didn't have time to start up an ammo manufacturing business a year ago so I could get in on the opportunity too.

You could do all of that without much working capital. Buy stuff today, pay your credit card 6 weeks later with no interest. In the meantime, you have bought your stuff, had it delivered, listed, sold, paid for and shipped, before you even have to write a check to your CC company.
Sometimes the simplest explanation is correct.

Funny it is the exact same thing they did to Tom Shepard that caused the powder shortage under Obama. Timed it to a Powder plant explosion, then wouldn't let import ships with powder unload and blamed the plant for the shortages. The plant that went down actually supplied most of its powder to the US Government. Worked the first time, and its working even better this time. 12 boats that just happen to have the stuff the country is short on to make ammo. You're right, nothing to see here, move along BAAA BAAA. My how short memories we have. And it is 12 ships that just happen to have this stuff on it.

I kind of think that stores should limit everything and spread the wealth around until things even out. I've seen people on this very forum bragging how they got 8 lbs of this and 5 lbs of that. I know hazmat and big case magnums come into play but I refuse to hose my fellow shooters and hoard. I have supplies built up over years not weeks. I did get a notice today from one store notifying me something I wanted was in stock. I didnt buy them out. And their prices only went up a dollar or two. I shoot a lot. I'm retired and have acreage, literally can shoot out of the reloading room. Realistically, with my meager stocks, will I ever shoot it all? Probably not. I know some of you are sitting on stockpiles that your grandkids will be using. Are the government hoards going to raid your house and take your stuff? Not likely unless you're doing stuff to get their attention. Slow down folks, take a deep breath, we've been here before.
