My dad had a saying about the tall corn. He worked in the cotton and corn fields when he was very young. Can't remember what it was though.Shooting prone. Not a lot prone shooting around the soybean and corn fields.

That's a skill? I guess it could be. I was going for a personal shooting skill that you always have to be mindful of.Affording the cost of reloading components.......
Nice. How much does it weigh, all in? (Minus gun, plus binoculars and lrf)Adrenaline rush when I am the spotter for someone else's hunt. I get the shakes so bad I can barely work my LRF for them.
But not when I am the one behind the gun. So weird.
So I put together a double mount in preparation for pronghorn season, since I always carry my 15s on a tripod.
15s and an LRF on one tripod. I have them aligned.

It can double as a rifle and LRF mount too.

I can swap sides for the rifle/LRF set up if needed.
Once the cotton blooms, the husk dries and it becomes sharp. Back when they were hand-picking, most wore a fingerless glove. My dad planted around 35 acres a year.I heard "walkin in tall cotton" many times.
Reading the wind…it is a continuous learning process for me….
Also shows mastery of nerves - I have a lot of trophies on the fireplace mantel in PHX but it took a while to master the nerves problem - and standing was worst. Competitive shooting does cure buck fever however.Seems easier to master all aspects of shooting when you are young. One of our juniors at Perry posted this score on the 3rd day of CMP Cup matches. Frank Green, Bartlein Barrels, donated the blank. I spun the barrel. She got a free barrel, but she made us all proud of her accomplishment.
Shooting 99% standing with 8 Xs (3 inch ring) is beyond outstanding. 797/800 across the course shows mastery of marksmanship fundamentals.
