What is your favorite bullets for hunting and target and why?

Been using Hammer Hunters last few years in my hunting rifles. 110 and 124 in my faster 6.5's and 92 in 25-06 and 143's in 7RM. Have also have used a lot of Accubonds too in the past with good results.

In my couple dedicated paper punchers I use ELDM's. Cheap an accurate. Also have been shooting some 135 Berger Classic Hunters at the range lately in a 6.5-06 but haven't taken them out to hunt yet.

For killing I just think the Nosler AB provides the best performance in the most hunting scenarios. For target whatever shoots good in your rifle and for me that is Hornady, Sierra and Berger. I would admit I have gravitated over the years to more Hornady for target because they did the best at keeping the pipeline full through all of the shortages we have endured.

I'm with you birddog, you turned me on to the new 120 gr 7 mm ballistic tips and even with shoulder shots didn't explode like the ones I used in the latter 70's. Very accurate and tough. I'm much better since my stroke..
And thought I'd say Hello also!
Hello buddy. Happy the 120's are working for you.
Nice to see you around and glad you are doing better! Take care.

Barnes TSX/TTSX if I've got a tag to fill. I wanted to work Badlands Super BullDozers into the mix, alas, that ship seems to have sailed for now.

For varmints and paper/steel, A-max or V-Max.

Day in & day out, it's still hard to beat plain-Jane Accubonds for easy load development and consistent terminal performance.

For whitetails - I like the 162gr ELD-M more than just about anything else. However, I just bought a load of Berger Hybrids to work up loads with and will probably take them afield next hunting season.

I like the Barnes TSX bullets and shot a bunch of deer with them out of the 6.5.
I've used a lot of ballistic tips and accubonds, worked fine.
Tried some Gamekings and they worked too.
Shot a few deer with Bergers and EldX and they seemed to work fine too.
I like to use what shoots accurately out of the rifle I'm using ,but most of my shots are under 300 yards.

Being I've only used cup&core type, ( yes many tipped) Nosler Partition and Barnes, ( Barnes only on paper) I'm curious what's THE BEST or your favorite for game and paper/steel
I've had DRT's or short runs But didn't like some results due to high velocity @ closer distances
For short range at high velocity I will not use any cup and core bullets as they tend to pancake but at long range where velocity is greatly deminished they may be ok but I shy away from non premium bullets for most big game. Accubond is my favorite not ABLR. for African game when I have a tracker Barnes TTSX or LRX are fantastic but blood trails are marginal expecially with small calibers under 284. Note when switching from Jacketed lead bullets to copper I clean the barrel thoroughly. copper through a lead jacketed fouled barrel or vice versa seems to affect accuracy in my Proof research 5R cut riffled barrels.

I like Nosier accubonds. They have never let me down. The unicorn…I mean bull in my avitar was just one of the many critters I've harvested with them. Most of the recovered bullets (not many) have weighed in at 90% I'm getting ready to start messing around with a new ruger gen 2 in 6.5 cm. For me 400 yds is long range.

AB's for a number of years until birddog68 told me they reconstructed the BT's a couple of years ago. They used to be like grenades and quit using them in early 90's. They have improved them tremendously. Also hunt with Hammer Hunters and Barnes TTSX. My rifles have a big influence in my bullet selection.
