What is your $ bullet limit?

Gas was $0.17. A carton of cig were $2.00. I just went back and looked at Hodgdon powders at there store. The H1000 was sold out @ $63.00 per lbs. 2# sold was at $175.00 to purchased for 2#. Somebody paid the prices, not me. I been researching powders here the last several days and found other that match or close too for about $20.00 less per #. So I am going give it a try.

Approximately 2.30 per bullet for one caliber and.85 per bullet for another but it depends on what I am doing.

I like Nosler Partitions in my .350 Remington Magnum bear rifle. Last winter I noted I was a bit low on .35/250 grain Partitions. I order 2 boxes of 50 at $99 each.

Hornady .35/250 grain Interlocks were about half that price per 100. I won't be buying any more Partitions once out of them unless the price drops noticeably.

The bears can't tell the difference.

1. What is your max limit for purchasing a box of 100qty bullets for hunting?
2. Is there a too much ?

I know on powder, some guys are digging in their heels at $40-50 thresholds. Where others don't necessarily care as long as they have it. ($50-90)?

For me, its completely dependent on the type and brand. I wouldnt pay close to $0.50 per bullet for hornady interlocks but that is a steal for Partitions these days. It is all subjective.

I guess not many shooting the 338 LM. Plinking was $3-4 / round of factory, (3) years ago, and at 98 grains of powder per round, thats barely 70 rounds per pound of powder. Not counting primers, and bullets, if you had the brass already and in the time.......

Don't feel bad, the ranges have been basically empty throughout the USA, never thought it would come to this, but never dreamed it would be caused by the very manufacturers whose existence is because of those who are now suffering....very strange turn of events and let's not forget the hoarding dawgs amongst our ranks have had a hand in this...and I don't buy for a second there excuse of raw materials costs rising 200-800%....oh well maybe they'll regret the fleecing of the shooting public...strange days indeed..

I have dollar limits I wont pay based on my principal of not supporting those who are gouging. It's definitely lower than some here are willing to pay. I will say that before any panic buying and price gouging, when pricers were normal, I shot a heck of alot more- but then again back then shooting in genearal was more of a hobby for me.

These days I have different hobbies and hunting happens relatively cheaply for me since I have to save money for what I really like to do. I generally don't need to, but can still connect at longer ranges than most in my area but my gear and supplies were bought when it was cheap so I don't 'need' to spend alot of money to do what I need to do (and conversely also don't need to look like I have bottomless pockets to anybody). (I think $8500 for a rifle to go hunting with is insane but thats just me- I'd spend $20k on an engine if I was still racing and most will think that's insane)

There's some guys who are just 'gear snobs', or long range hunting is just another way to show off their wealth, or a way to feed the 'more, better, faster' addiction. I get it. However there's a core philosopy of mine that all decent americans should be well armed and skilled (meaning practiced).The guys willing to pay $75 to 80 per pound of powder, and snatching up everything they can find is really hurting not only the 'sport' of long range shooting but also making sure the common folk don't have what they need and that hurts our country- especially considering the times we are in if you get my drift.

Everyone has a limit but it's not like turning off a light switch. As components consume more and more of your disposable income, you just tend to shoot less or less expensively. I've actually been shooting more Hornady bullets than ever before. They are generally more available than most other bullets and they cost a bit less than many. If a bullet is accurate, I'll use it.

I shoot more whitetails than anything other than varmints. Virtually any biggame bullet is more than enough to take these thin skinned animals.

Lack of materials, labor, import fees, blah, blah...

Quality FGMM 308 ammo in early 2020 could be had for about $22 a box. Now I have seen it for $38 at my honey hole and from some place almost $50. This is like 2005-2008, when home values doubled in a year. Those willing to pay only hurt the long term I guess.

I'm on my way to Bass Pro to pick up a sling shot....

I'm still reloading 308 for $12 a box of 20 and not too long ago it was $7. Anyway I'll pay whatever I have too in order to shoot 300gr bergers...currently 98 cents each.
