What is your baseline zero a dial adjustable scope?

I was going to spout off and say why anything but 100 yards, then it dawned on me that the boys custom Tikka 243 is zeroed at 200, instigated by me.
Not sure on my logic with it, other than to remove a few variables, like forgetting their dope sheet. They have a 400 yard cap but I am sure w/o me around, anything goes, lol
Me, it is 100 yards, if you have time to lazer an animal, you have time to dial.

300 I've used it for decades and all my ballistics calc/charts are programmed for it in most all my LR:ELR calibers. Never had any issues.

Edit: I just remembered, I do have one rifle set at 600 for specific reasons

On the old '06, I always zeroed at 200 with a fixed scope. With an adjustable, it's 100. When I'm hunting elk size animals, I dial it for 400 yards. That way my point blank is no further than 4" high or low from 100 out to 500 yards. I might add, I'm shooting a RUM with a lighter mono leaving the muzzle at almost 3500. I limit my max range on that load to 800, though!

200 on all of my hunting rifles . It's what I'm used to ,I can dial up from there.

MPBR of 12" and I dont dial just hold. I use reticle on my long range guns I'm good to 1200.

It depends if you are a hunter of animals, or a shooter of animals.

Hunters - can engage the animal from very close to far. So the "Point Blank Range" method is more utilized. Pretty much that's the extent of a hunters ability to grasp ballistics. Dial knobs and numbers would create confusion.

Shooters - have all day to dial their dope because they are so far away from the animal. They can do the 100 zero and dial their scopes, with the gun sitting on their carbon fiber tripods, and know the exact distance and wind via use of their gadgets. They even have time to calculate the spin drift and rotation of the earth.

So that's how it goes...

200. My 2nd focal plane scope drop charts recommends either a 100 or 200 yd zero so that the subtensions work correctly, depending on 600 yard bullet strikes (actual drop from a 100 or 200 yard zero). That gives me an easy/fast subtension holdover out to ~600, or dial up using dope if I have time or when the shots are further out. I've tested the subtensions to my satisfaction. Just another way to do it when hunting.

My answer...none.of the above. I can never get an exact 200 yard zero.

100 yds for scope with adjustable turrets. Otherwise, why pay the extra money to own an adjustable scope. Just buy a 3x9 with the cross hair reticle and set it at 200 or 300.

Huh? The reason I sight at 300 is so I don't have to think about anything from about zero to 350 yards.

How high are you at 100 yds? What size animals are you hunting? I think it depends on the game.
