In several states, not just Wyoming. One time when hunting in unit 7 in Nev. I had taken a deer. gutted it and open it up to cool. It was late in the day and if I missed the trail to get back to camp, I was in trouble. They were sheep ranchers in Wyoming shooting goldens if I remember correctly.
The next day I when back after it. Sitting on the deer was a bald eagle filling up.
Told the outfitter about it. He said he never seen an bald eagle in that part of the country, and there wasn't any there. I know and it wouldn't be hard to determine what type of eagle it. The area that I came from had Golden Eagles until the middle 70's. Then the bald eagle showed up. We have both now or I think that the cases. Not sure how many if any golden eagles are here now. The farmlands are now housing tracts.
