What bullet for 300wsm?

Do you actually own and a shoot a 300WSM? The case volume isn't enough to push heavy bullets. Anything over 180 gr. becomes horibly slow. To the poster I tried about 10 differrent powders in the 165 to 175 grain bullets. The slowest powder was reloader 23. Things like Superformance, ramshot hunter, 4000 -MR, Leverrevolution, and hybrid 100. You are never going to get speed with powders as fast as Varget. You have to chrono your rounds because load data listings are often optimistic.
The last .300WSM I loaded for pushes a 200.20x @ 2916 from a 22" barreled Tikka LA w. The HCA WSM mags.

I also loaded a 20" .300WSM pushing 215 Hybs @ 2800 in a true R700 SA length action as a repeater.

Would you consider these "horribly slow"?

What do you consider horribly slow? I'm fireforming 185 Juggernauts in a 300 SAUM Improved with H4350 3 grains under max and I'm in the mid 2800s with a 21" barrel.

I'll switch over to RL26 once I get fireformed brass and be around 3000fps.

Seems plenty sufficient for me. Why shoot a magnum cartridge and not take advantage of heavier bullets?

I run 150 Barnes TTSXs at 3205 comfortably. I'm using Staball 6.5 with single digit SDs. At the elevations I hunt, I can comfortably get close enough for terminal ballistics to work for me. Bang flop with this whitetail last season.

I would like to get my hands on the 151 Absolute Hammer that supposedly has quite a bit more velocity than standard bullets of equivalent weight.

Dats an odd looking elk...........:)

For those who have suggested the 185 Juggernaut, I am assuming you are referring to the OTM tactical?? Part #30107? This is interesting thread to me cause I just started load development on a 300wsm, and finishing up barrel breakin now. Starting with 205 elite's and 23. But if that doesn't pan out the 185's sure seem to be next choice.

There's only one. They dropped the OTM because other than part number they were exactly the same bullet.

208 ELDM or 208 LRHT would be my choice

I said the 200+ grain bullets become way slow because the 300 swm just doesn't have the case capacity of the ultra mags. I was a 30-378 30 inch barrel person for elk and plains game hunting.

my 300 wsm is a cut above my 308 win but that's not saying much. It's like the stories of the brush buster 220 round nose shot out of a 30-06
