What bullet should I load in my Kimber 8400 300wsm? Hunting elk out to 600 yards max. 1:10 twist, 24" pencil barrel. Pretty lightweight overall rifle as well. It has a short mag well with hinged floor plate so I am unable to seat the big heavy's way out. Thanks,

I've got a Rem model 7 in 300 WSM with a 22 inch barrel and it shoots 180 grain Nosler Ballistic tips and Accubonds to the same point of impact at 2930ish using H4350.

I would try the Norma 180 Bondstrike to see if it likes them

Double check to ensure the magazine box isn't binding between the receiver/stock/bottom metal. This can cause flyers, and is a 'known issue' with some Kimbers

Thanks! I did check that as well. No issue noted. I also tested it against some factory nosler partitions which grouped right around 1-1.25"

Im not certain if your 2" flyer is random or part of the group size.... but when I first tried Hammers I was getting a 1.5moa group size in my 280ai and was disappointed being a new rifle. Hammer suggests that their bullets are not sensitive to seating depth, so I spent a lot of money on Hammers and powder trying to shrink the load to no avail. Finally on someone else's advice, I did a seating depth test anyways and found a .75moa node with my Hammer bullet, happy now.

I, too have a short mag well, but my load for my .300 WSM is 215 Berger (.080" off the lands, COAL 2.968"/CBTO 2.197") at 2850 FPS, also with 24" and 1:10" barrel.
