What 25 calibers are yall shooting?

257 Roberts and 4-25-06's over 30 years. Shoot a barrel out, buy another one ha. Killed over 50 bucks and 6 bull elk with 110 grain accubond and 120 grain partition's. Eventually got a 300 wm and stopped hunting elk with it. You have to hit them in the vitals or you won't find much of a blood trail but it is a good deer killer for sure out to 500 yds. I'd go 1:7 twist 25-06 & go kill some bucks!

I am a fan of the 25/270WSM thinking! Same as I had suggested if you could neck down the 7 rem Saum. With a good NP or even a good copper bullet would be able to take out an elk, I would always use a 7mm+ for elk but that's a personal opinion just on my comfort level, I have been using a 257roy with 110gr ABs to hunt river bottom white tails and this coming year I will be using my 300roy with 220.2 Berger's. So each there own, I mean Roy did kill a Cape buffalo in Africa with a 257mag but said he wouldn't suggest it.

I would get a 257 weatherby ammo is real easy to find , different choices out thier I would either and accumark or the vanguard in the floating bedding block stock , , but just to clue you in to something no rifle is going to hold up to shooting round after round , I don't care who makes it or builds it , and once the barrel has got hot it is history as far as accuracy , even when working up loads , think about it when your hunting you use ing a clean , some don't , but a cold barrel that's the way you want your rifle to perform, if saw people at the range shooting one round after another barrel gets hot thier groups spread out they ask me after they see what I was doing and say I whish mine would do that I say one thing you are shooting to much not letting the barrel cool but in the 25 cal a 25 7mag is the tops and affordable in ammo and firearms

Considering building a .25 something once I'm done with my 6.5 build....
Are there any short actions that are easy to get brass for?
I know 25-06 is popular but I've seen several deer lost (I know probably the shooter) but still left a bad taste with me.
Take a peppermint life saver for the bad taste, and go with your first thought. I'm pretty sure that's it.

I have two different 25-300 wsm's. One on a ruger m77 and one on a Winchester 70. 1-10 twists, schillen match, #5 barrels. I run 100 gr Nosler Bal. Tip. At 3750 fps. For whitetail and coyotes. Nothing takes a step when you pull the trigger! (Not a pelt friendly gun by the way) I did bump up to a 115 partition for my mule deer trip. That was unnecessary. The partition at that speed didn't open up fast enough on deer size animals, but that would be devastating on an elk. This gun shoot so flat! That is why it is my favorite gun in my cabinet!
