Don't overlook the guard and Reserve either. Although I am a full-timer, there are those in my unit who are reservists. It is an integrated unit. Our unit has done six tours to Afghanistan and did a hitch in Iraq. These men and women, and their civilian employers deserve every bit of my admiration for walking away from their "normal life" and suffering the separation and filth with the rest.
I often see companies give discounts to "Active Duty" and neglect traditional reservists. We have many Active Duty units that have never stepped foot in the sand.
When we receive a tasking to go, the reservists step up and VOLUNTEER to fill slots and on very, very few occasions has one had to be told they had to fill a slot.

I was at my range yesterday with one of my army buddies who's still in. He was visiting from fort Stewart. We had the displeasure of shooting with two airforce guys from a base about 45 mins away from Macon.
I felt bad though. They asked us what our army MOS was and they were oh engineers! They then told us their MOS and I was like bro I don't know what that means. One guy was like maintenance technicians. I said thanks!
Absolutely perfect day shooting though. Let them shoot some custom bolt guns and they let us shoot their tricked out ARs in every AR caliber imaginable.

Yeah, you would only wish you could take out a fraction of the opfor as the "chairforce" does.
It would take an infantry division years to kill as many enemy as a good CAS aircraft can do in moments. Of course, if you were combat arms you would know that as the "chairforce" has saved many asses screaming for help when a TIC happens. Don't knock 'em just because they are smarter than you are.

Yeah no offense with that AF joke, it was more guided to 300Whisper. Wish I had your kinda patients being in the service that long. I have been active for exactly 17 years today in the good ol chairforce. I see my light at the end of the tunnel!!!
