USPS disgust….

Here's a good one.

We had a very nice rifle stock get crushed in shipment. So bad that the Mesa stock was broken in half!

Filed a claim, denied - said they needed us to have our customer package up the "damaged box" along with contents so the postal inspector could inspect the box to see if they were at fault.

They all have their shortcomings. DHL, FEDEX, UPS and USPS. We've got handfuls of horror stories with all of them - human error, law of averages - it's bound to happen.

Sad world we live in today!

I get that things happen, but when it does they need to accept their faults which USPS has not in the slightest

That is pretty bad, it is almost at the point of should you ship a high dollar item and take a chance or drive it to the FFL yourself.... I am hearing all of these horror stories and make me wonder what would be the results if they lost a Custom rifle worth 4500+??? Would the ATF get involved if you proceeded with a claim of lost or stolen rifle? What would it take to be reimbursed for full value??

I tell them "it's in your hands and you're responsible for it, period"! It's a joke for us to pay insurance because their lack of duty! I can guarantee you someone kept it, but if and only if they'll decide to return it is subjective! Ther are criminals all around including all shippers! I've received many packages that wasn't mine from usps, ups, fed-ex and dhl............I returned every one, kept contact info and sent a letter making sure they DID receive it. So far all replies have been yes.

I tracked a shipment to my ffl and delivery stated "left at garage door".........no signature...............like ***, this dealer lives in town near lots of residences. Good thing it's a small town with lots of honest folk, but there are a few that's not (my neighbors included in the NOT).

I would require a signature for delivery, we do that at work for thousands and tens of thousands and 100 of thousands of Router Network equipment we ship to our locations. Before that was a requirement, we would lose Tens of thousands of dollars of router equipment, sometimes they would list it like your delivery, left at door with a picture.. When you are in a downtown location and leave it sitting outside on the sidewalk doesn't work..

Signature required = All single people take a day off work for every delivery and hope they bother to deliver it that day?
Someone should file a class action lawsuit against carriers for fraud because they took money for insurance they never intended to pay.
You can have it setup to go to the closet FedEX drop off if they try several attempts to deliver but nobody is there.

If it stated "met person at garage" instead of "left at garage" and they signed for it, it would make sense although tracking doesn't state "signed for". This was a 1st in a list of many I tracked. I ordered a lower from a place in south Texas that shipped usps in a separate package of items I purchased at the same time. Tracking showed arrived at local usps. Off I went to pick up packages and noticed 1 package was different (no signature required for any that was received from the same company...............the package THEY (usps) handed me was an ffl item and I'm not licensed for that. Honesty prevailed and I did what was right and informed the usps (local) that this is a ffl item and deliver it to them. I thought about taking it out to the ffl myself, but decided it might be a bad idea.

OP: sorry you only got half your value back. Keep trying. Sometimes I think they just try to wear us down. Guess we need to insure for twice the value.

USPS really only affordable option for regular guy to ship firearms. I did it once with them after UPS shut us out. Dreading the next time at USPS.

My local UPS driver agreed to accept a signed hand written note from me for deliveries requiring signatures. Worth asking so you don't hav to wait around all day although UPS gives pretty good delivery time windows whereas FedEX is terrible at tracking.
