Governed by emotions. No horses in that area.
Because the environmentalists don't like cows.

It's my understanding the flyovers and shooting will be handled by the USDA Predation management team. This is the same group that handles the Coyote management during Fawning time in Antelope country. Where did you see the $100k price tag, just curious as I'd like to read more about it. Personal opinion for me, getting the cattle out of this area is good for the Elk and Deer herd. 150 head of cattle hunkered down in a general area can be devastating to that area. I've seen it over my 40 years of hunting Arizona. Rancher will move 100-200 head of cattle into a area and within a couple of weeks most everything else moves out. It's eaten down to nothing with crap all over the place. My concern is the $100K+ contract the FS could use more efficiently on the local forest.
There are trails that have not been cleaned in 30 years in the Gila.

How stupid can the Gov. be, free food for people and won't let them have it. Just what they want is to keep everyone under their thumb. Be careful who you elect.
Wait until you're charged by a wounded cow. You haven't lived until you've been or seen someone launched out of a catch pin by a normal looking milk cow!Look up New Zeland Feral Cows. Very tough and hard to hunt.
I say let them go feral!
LolThe crap is good for the next years growth.
Now thats something I got experience with.Wait until you're charged by a wounded cow. You haven't lived until you've been or seen someone launched out of a catch pin by a normal looking milk cow!
Nobody told me her name was crazy Sally! She seemed so friendly. Now thats something I got experience with.
Unrelated to the cows! But in 1981 we were about to head out into the west elk wilderness in Colorado for14 day elk hunt. Wrangler said anyone who knew horses to pick one out from the corral with about 40 head in it. I grabbed a halter and lead rope and went in eyeing several who shied away. One of them looked at me and stepped forward. I threw the lead rope over her neck and went to the corner and was putting the halter on. The wrangler can running up yelling, Mr.Mr. we don't ride her ,we only pack her. Her name is evil. She turned and looked at me, its like she was thinking, well I almost got you.Now thats something I got experience with.
We still talking about cows? LolStupid remove them. Problem solved with no more Bureaucracy attached
Same situation in Missouri with feral hogs. They trap then on national forest land and dispose of them and the excuse is they could be diseased. It is not legal to even shoot them on nat. forest land. Why not just open up a season for the public to harvest these Feral Cows?
