For a hunting rifle I have to carry, nothing over 9#'s... Whatever it takes in initial design to be there or under..

30" barrel, the poor old bullet will be wore out and drop straight to the ground after traveling through that much tube.

The only time I've seen a longer barrel lose velocity is with a .22 lr. My ruger 10/22 consistently shoots faster than my old Cooey single shot 26 inch. It's also much less accurate haha.

Cut it down if you're hunting is in any way mobile. A 30 inch pipe is a pain in the butt on the move!
