Tikka vs Remington for next build?

When I seated a 212 eldx to the neck shoulder junction I got a coal of close to 3.25" I have aspirations of shooting the 230gr A-tip out of this rifle so I'd like the mist case capacity possible.
10-4. Ya short action is a no go for sure. I really like the look of the Tikka actions, if nothing else ha ha.

Are you running a custom or factory chamber? What coal do you get with big bullets?

with the HC mag you can load as long as you need to. I'm building a wsm with a tikka set up to shoot the 215 hybrids. Not sure how long they will be but the 3.380 box will be more than enough. I got the mag because the factory mag was so short even factory barns 165 ttsx were getting flat on the tip of the point from the recoil.

I know you said you are building, so I assume you are changing the barrel-- that is a big drawback of the tilkas in any .308 is the 1:11 twist

I am indeed changing the barrel, I did think about trying a factory barrel to see how it shoots, but it will end up being swapped out.

Defiance Tenacity (cheaper custom)
Tikka
Rem long action

that would be my order. If you want a proof barrel you're likely going to want to cut back the face of the tikka action or it's going to be/look really odd with a 1.13 ish action facing up to a 1.20 barrel. If you do a HCA barrel I think mike will turn it down to a tikka size but that's just IIRC

I'm wanting to build a "light weight" 30 caliber magnum hunting rifle. What I mean by light weight is I'm planning on using a proof research barrel and a Manners EH4 stock. It may not end up being light weight after it's all finished but that's okay, it will be lighter than my other rifles and that's what I'm going for. I am torn between a 300 wsm with a custom long throat or a standard 300 win mag. My thought was I could loose a couple ounces with a shirt action, but after measuring COAL with bullets I'd be shooting in the wsm case it is obvious that a Remington short action will not work, even with a Wyatt's extended box mag. So that leaves me thinking a Tikka action, it would fit a COAL if 3.3 which is perfect for a long throat 300 wsm. However if it doesn't weigh less than a Remington long action then I might as well go with the long action and the 300 win mag. Do any of you guys know how much a tikka action weighs? I've never actually owned one. Also what else should be considered when building off a Tikka vs a Remington?

Tikka is a really nice action. If you went that route I'd go with the 300 short mag. otherwise I'd spend a little money and get a custom action. trued and dialed in action with tight specs. Also There are plenty of custom actions out there for a good price with a Remington footprint. With the Remington footprint you can get any thing you want for the build. Ie. bottom metal, stock, trigger.......
Cheers

Noticed guys getting a Rem 700 style lug for their tikka. Trim back the receiver face and put the matching lug in like a Rem. I'm going to do that on my next wsm build.

Following. I have a Remington 700 300 wsm I've been thinking about rebarreling with proof, new stock (Ag carbon), and new mag box for heavies. Just wasn't sure it would work for heavier grain even with new mag box. I usually shoot 180 silver tips or 165 gr barnes tsx and vor Tx but would like to have option of the 200 gr bullets. If not I will start from scratch with new build.
Make sure to get the fastest twist available if u want to shot the heavier and longer bullets.
Proof just came out with a stock for the proof carbon barrels that weighs less that 20 ozs
