Tikka 300 WSM what would you do?

FullSizeRender.jpg-4.jpeg
This is what i did to my 300 WSM tikka. cost me an arm and a leg, but if i had to do one thing it would be the stock. This is a carbon fiber edge filled McMillan Hunter stock. Do not need a stock pack and i shoot better with it. Got the factory trigger down to 1.8 lbs.

What about some custom ammo? If you're not keen on reloading how about sending the rifle to a professional and having them do some load development for you?

3" at 500yd is pretty close to half MOA. You and the gun can both shoot! I can't imagine being able to improve on that with factory ammo.

As far as the gun itself is concerned I would not change a thing until I felt I needed to.

If you are just looking to personalize the rifle, by all means, look into Tikka Performance/mountain tactical. You can bling out your bottom metal, bolt handle/shroud....

If you are truly wanting to shoot smaller groups though, I don't see it happening without custom ammunition.

A new stock might be nice, but find a load that really sings in the rifle first. You may find out that you could use more OAL in your magazine. You may not. This could affect what 'bottom metal' you use and in turn affect the stock.

As great a board as this is, and there have been some good responses here, my suggestion is to start a conversation with your rifle and let it tell you what it wants.

@snookntarpon nice rifle. Curious what that configuration weighs..?

Thanks I guess I read all these post about people shooting 1/2 moa groups and such at long range. I think man I can only shoot 3-4 inch group. But yes I am a hunter so I should be happy. Just was wondering if I change anything what would you all change first?
as someone else mentioned maybe reloading gear if you truly want .5MOA gun. In my opinion even crazy expensive accurate guns have a hard time being true .5MOA shooters with factory PREMIUM ammo. This is why accuracy guarantees are held at the 1MOA mark. Pretty much everyone in the long range shooting/hunting world reloads due to this. FYI, reloading is costly and time consuming but pretty fun in it's own right (sometimes it brings frustrations though)! There have been many a rifle which people thought had terrible accuracy with factory loads but with reloads were able to bring the accuracy to sub MOA.

Learning curve to reloading is big! For Rifle ammo that is, and even bigger for precision reloading. most here know that it is not just powder weight. A lot more goes into it and it can take years to fully grasp it.

I know this is a small improvement, but I would change out the recoil lug if it is still factory. Tikkas are known to have soft recoil lugs, and shooting a magnum you'll notice it sooner than later. Then maybe upgrade the bolt shroud and bottom metal. At that point you might as well look into a manners tikka stock in whatever color is your flavor. It's a rabbit hole to go down when you start "upgrading" a rifle.

Thanks for all the responses. It confirmed what I already thought . Just take the weapon and go hunting. If it ain't broken don't fix it. I would like to do some upgrades but don't need to.

Thanks I will. If I get a new barrel someone posted to get a barrel with faster twist and throated for heavier bullet like Berger 210vld or 215 Berger. Can a person buy ammo like that somewhere because I don't reload?

By the way for her birthday I am building a AR15 pistol in 6.5 g with a 14 inch Lilja barrel. Should make a nice deer gun for sneaking around the cedar swamp. Don't ever get to shoot over 100 yards
