Thoughts on a model 70 build

with the long action FB reamer, its 3.30

How about the 300 Mega. What velocity are people getting with the 215's and what powders are working best? There is no data listed for it.

When I built my 300WM on Model 70 action, I cut out the spacer and used original follower from 7mm Rem Mag. It feeds smooth as silk.

I was wondering about that. I know it has a spacer, but was not sure if I would need to get a longer follower to make that work?

I believe Wyatt's makes a magbox to extend the COAL. He also had videos on how to make some cartridge feed better. At one time I believe he had a bolt stop too, but I didn't see it the last time I was on his site.

Given the posts on taking out the spacer I'd probably try that first.

Pull the spacer and go from there. As for cartridges, I'd give a serious look at the 7mm PRC or the 7 SAUM. You'll be able to source quality brass and published load data. Win-win. As for the WSM, I have a 7mm WSM and I love it but when the barrel is toast, it'll probably become a 7 SAUM.
