The new Ruger seems to check all the boxes for me

I've been a fan of my LC6 trigger on my Gunsite Scout rifle, and very impressed with the accuracy of that gun. So much so, that it's beginning to be one of my favorite rifles to shoot. I'm toying with the idea of getting the pillar bedded synthetic stock that they offer for it so I can have a lightweight mountain .308 to take with me on my hunts. It's just so **** handy!
My Gen1 5R will fit the Berger factory ammo in 215gr with just a hair to spare. No problems feeding, and accurate to boot.

This new Ruger just popped up on my radar last night, I believe it is brand new for 2018. Here is a link

I was just about ready to buy a Bergara premier series, here is a link to it.

But the Ruger seems to check off everything I was looking for. Controlled round feed, picatinny rail already equipped, heavy barrel, 5r rifling, muzzle brake, m-lok attachment points for the bipod, two-stage adjustable trigger, claw extractor, fixed ejector, three position safety, and to top everything off it looks like it's going to be about half the price of the bergara.

I already have a Ruger Hawkeye 300 Win Mag, and have been working with it for several years. I've gotten it to shoot about 1 1/4 MOA. With Factory Hornady ammo. I like everything about it except it isn't quite accurate enough. I probably could spend some more money on it and get it below 1 Moa. But honestly just want to start over with a new rifle.

Do any of you have any experience with the new Ruger? What are your thoughts?

I have no hands on experience with the new Ruger but keeping inline with your two choices, I would probably go with Ruger over Bergara. Good luck with your decision.

I would go with the Bergara myself out of your two choices. I just bought a Bergara rifle and the action is super smooth and the trigger is awesome. Plus it's a Rem 700 clone action so there are tons of things to do with it if you want. I would dare say that Bergara took everything that people don't like with the Rem 700s and fixed them.

Yes I agree the Bergara's seem to have all good reviews, at least I do not recall seeing anything negative written about them yet. That is the one thing that gives me pause with the Ruger, I do not really want to be a beta tester for them. Also it's been my experience that with almost everything you buy, you get what you pay for, and the Ruger is roughly half the price of the bagera I am looking at. The bagera probably would have had a lot more hand fitting involved with it.
I am in no rush to make a decision at this point, I I am going to be very interested in reading the reviews of the new Ruger.

In all honesty I see nothing in there specs that would scare me. I to must admit the gun has interested me since the first time I saw it.

The trigger interest me. This is what they say about it.

  • Unique, two stage, adjustable target trigger with a short "take-up" stage, followed by a crisp, light target pull with no creep or over travel.

I'm not a big Ruger fan but I've seem the way the RPR's shoot and that is a **** fine gun. Of course you can find a bad one in any production gun, that's unavoidable, but I think Ruger is stepping up and if I were in the market I wouldn't hesitate to buy the Hawkeye LRT.

1:9 twist implies you want to shoot the modern high BC bullets. How can this be done in Ruger's magwell? Seems they have the smallest magwells going. Just doesn't make any sense to me.

That is a magpul aics pmag, has 3.5" internal oal, 3.7" outside. So you are still limited with factory mags, however I believe the 3.715" aics steel mags will cross over which have a 3.615" internal length.
