In S Africa, paying R16.50 for one dollar is hurting me............as it is, I am broke...
Short drive to Canada......no shortage of Primers or most powders....oh yeah....Covid is protecting our boarder! Once that B.S. is forgotten....come on up!I tried to learn from the last shortage and stock up. I was still in school at the time so it was hard. I think I managed to get enough for a few years. I wish us all good luck in finding more primers...we will need it.
Where are you located it might be time for a road trip to your local gun storeI think it will go back to normal by the summer of next year. Kind of like the 22LR shortage a few years ago. They may come back a little higher priced ~60 bucks a brick, but they'll be around. I've been pretty lucky with a local store about 12 minutes down the road. They still have all primers available (pistol and rifle) and I picked up 2 lbs of RL23 on Saturday. Only thing I've ever seen them out of is RL26, and that's only when I bought 3 of their remaining 4 lbs. They even have full shelves of ADG Brass and Hammer Bullets.
Obiden has said he will stop mail order, internet sale of ammo, gun components so shortages will continue for at least next 4 years if not forever. Also if included in import bans, powder. And of course those scary black rifles.
Like many here learned my lesson last mass-stupidity and when stuff became available again I stocked up to the point I felt sever buyers remorse thinking I spent way to much $$$
Now I wish especially with 22lr I bought 10x as much loaded 9mm bought 5x as much, I'm in no way hurting for stuff cus I aint, just wish I had more as a typical range day for me and my sons is several thousand rounds total.
And IMHO things are gonna stay this way a much longer than last time so I am limiting my shooting. And it really hurts. Shooting my bolt and lever rifles more now as it takes a long time to burn up 100 308 and 6.5x55 and 35 REM then 223 and 9mm.
I'm looking to buy a couple small caliber rifles in 243 or 6,5 as brass and components they are available and its relatively cheap to reload and shoot them.
I've got over 1k 7mm bullets for my 7mm stw so I might buy a 7mm/08 or two as I have with POUNDS of IMR 4064 and IMR 4166 great powders for 243, 6.5, 308 or 7mm/08. I have one 308 already.
I agree that Republicans are a disappointment, majority of them are not constitutional and just want to keep their elite positions. But we know the other side has become more socialist/ Marxist than in past. The panic has already begun. I have looked in different town on recent trip to different shops and found some primers. I did not buy them all. Many have said similar things before. Think of all the things the republicans promised us and didn't come through on (hearing protection act, national carry reciprocity). They care about keeping their jobs more than serving. I'll worry when the legislation starts moving, until then its talk. If everyone acts like theres a reason there should be a panic, then there will be a panic.
Whose to say you or I will get to have one of those vaccination shots....By next summer when vaccinations become more widespread and supply chain restrictions ease and companies start expanding production, I think we will see things get better. From what I understand the primer shortage is tied to the ammo shortage. Whoever bought the ammo component of remington has to get it up and running, that will help some
I wish more people would stop this crazy buying it just make thing WorseI'm optimistic!lol Lasted 5 years? Maybe? I bought a couple bricks in 2008 before it all started to go to crap and that held me over till I was out of pocket from 10-14. Guess I didn't notice.lol. When I got back to the states in early 14 I could find them again, so guess I just assumed it only lasted a little.
The problem is people buying things they won't need for a couple years just because they buy into the hype of "I gotta buy it all now or I won't have it when I run out." Or people buying things because they see a profit in resale. Kind of like toilet paper a few months ago (once again I was out of the states and I'm glad I missed that shortage!). But I get back and my wife had the whole closet full?? I started calling her a hoarder and she was part of the problem...that didn't go over too well..
Like I said I've got a local shop that has at least 4-5 bricks of every size of primer on their shelf. There's a strong part of me that wants to go buy a brick of each just to make sure I don't run into a situation where I need some in the future but I always talk myself out of it because I have enough for my use at home. Let someone else who really needs it have it I guess. That may bite me in the butt in a year or 2...guess we'll see?

Right, the question is, "What is driving the current ammo 'shortage'?". Unless someone can point to governmental contracts, either domestic or foreign, the answer has to be public "over-purchasing". If the latter is the case, then inventories will even out again in the not too distant future. I mean you can only use so much toilet paper before it either just takes up too much space, is a fire hazard, or you run out of money. How many of us really want to be sitting on a couple hundred thousand rounds? So you stop buying it and so does everyone else who bought so much they had to store it in the trunk of their car, and wahlah, you start seeing it on shelves for a whole day or 2 at a time again. Many have said similar things before. Then whose to say the company that bought Remington is going to reopen...maybe it was bought by a false company..with the funds that the "OBiden" group sent to Ukrane...
$5.3 billion that didn't show in Ukrane but has been proven to have been taken into Soros' company and after his share his kids share and others getting their kickbacks....that the company may have been purchased with our own tax dollars which are now gone and being used against not only our own country but those trying to defend it from tyranny.....how much of that money went into the hands of the "OBiden" group....how much to the U.N. cutting into our 2A freedoms...
Take it all to heart and head...
There is conspiracy....it started...
How's it gonna end.....
It took me a 12 hour round trip for my last purchase of primers...
I am amazed at the number of people who didn't realize that Biden has a very detail gun control section on his campaign website. It details exactly what he plans to do, AND he has said this publicly. The worst being he does not support the Heller decision that affirmed the Individual right to own a firearm. And Harris believes the same thing. We've never had a President (presumptive) and Vice President that have publicly held this belief.
Sporting goods stores could decide not to sell do to political pressure or potential law suits. Also they can't stock every type of ammo. I've purchased ammo on line though a box stores website due to the not stocking in store. All types of scenarios and work around. BUT Do you want more freedom or less...Right, the question is, "What is driving the current ammo 'shortage'?". Unless someone can point to governmental contracts, either domestic or foreign, the answer has to be public "over-purchasing". And even if fears of internet purchases being banned are well founded (not happening in the next 12 months for sure), sporting goods stores are the way we always bought it anyway so that's more of an inconvenience than a reason to freak out. Plus from what I've seen sporting goods stores are not selling it at 2x and 3x the price. That's a very poor marketing move for a brick and mortar outlet. Internet outlets don't care about repeat business as much because they have less invested in their business and can fold up on a dime and restart under a new name.
