The black grey squirrel

Black one?
I can't remember but I think I had two of them mounted years ago and they are in my dads game room. I can probably help you out with a skin or two. Juts have to check the season. It only shuts down here for a small time and I think it's spring unless they are doing damage. Which is always. They try and live in the top of our heated barn.
"Interesting" Is there a season on them. I hadn't realize there were so many different squirrels. Learned something new. Great, and Thanks for sharing this. I would have never know.
Same here , greys , reddish ones , and ground squirrels at low elevation, and Douglas ,golden mantel and chipmunks,
Up higher, none of the big ones around here.
Pics look like they are big .

We have three different squirrels where we live in GA
The Grey-regular size
The Fox-Twice the size of a Grey and they have Black Colored head feet and some Rust color
The Monkey - Twice the size of a Grey and they are all Black with white paws and Nose.
I used to tell my kiddo when he was little that they were ninja squirrels, since they had a tendency to drop down from the trees into traffic. Hii-ya!

My oldest daughter is a DVM here in northern Michigan.
She told me the black squirrels that are black are the same as gray squirrels with a slight genetic difference that causes them to have more melanin.
Go to the Michigan DNR website, they have a page that talks about the different squirrels.
In my part of the state we have lots of all 3 gray, black and fox.

This one would have a hard time hiding , unless it's a curtain squirrel

That's a pretty nice Fox squirrel. Here in W Ky we have Grey and Fox squirrels, our Fox's are more orange/yellowish although OI have seen a few over the years that were almost black. Fox squirrel tial makes good crappie jigs.

Where I came from all we had ground squirrels. Great target practices. Farmer love you too.
In highschool three of us would shuttle up through a cattle ranch on a Honda 125 , with .22s ,to a an abandon rock quarry , where we dug out a spot on a cliff , and shoot ground squirrels for hours
We competed with each other trying to shoot them on the run.
