Steel plate from a file cabinet for a target ?

The backstory , my wife is a office manager and needed to purge some file cabinets , naturally it fell to me . I wheeled two out to the dumpster and I was shocked at how much they weighed . A week later she had another so I put it in my truck to give to my scrap guy . As I let it fall out of my truck these fell out . 19x12 inches and .400 thick , and they ring like steel . Targets ?

More than likely just soft steel.....no good to shoot at most rifles will penetrate even at some long ranges.....pistols with cast bullets or 22 LR would be OK but will take a beating....

Best use is for some metal projects will cut easy with a torch or saw !

I say give it a try, wouldn't shoot inside of 200 with a high power rifle though, proper back stop, can't hurt.
