This guy says the same and whacks bears like it's going out of business!308 with 165 Accu's is about as good as a bear load as you're going to find!
Side note, here's a short list of the rounds I've seen used on bruins over the years:
22/250
Swift
243
6/06
25/06
6.5/06
270
7 Mashburn Super
7 STW
308
06
30 Gibbs
340 Wby
416 Rigby
Archery
Probably missed a few, but this is a goodly share of the list. They'll all work, just get your first poke in the right place from the get go. If you screw up and get in a poor hit, IME you'll most likely not recover the bruin. I am not in anyway shape or form a fan of shooting at bruins much beyond 300 yds for this reason.
Actually this one is a pretty small bear, a sow but was 8 years old. From 600 plus yards its really difficult to judge bears and with her age she moved like a bigger bear.Flatbow- please put up another picture or two of your bear. Preferably something with a good side shot end to end. It's incredibly tough to get a true feel for a bruin when they're propped on a log like that.

Dig it. Disagree with minor things…but would share a hunt with any of those guys.I watch a bit of Lampers (and Gritty) stuff. Those boys get after it!
Ryan Avery with shoot to hunt is an old buddy of mine from back when I still built custom trad. Bows. Kind of lost track of him when he got so busy with Rokslide but recently reunited with him.

Right now I'm shooting a 160gr maker t-Rex at 3460fps with RL33.338, how's that 27 Sherman do for you.
What kind of Velocity's?
Let me inspire you a little.
