sig sauer kilo 2000 rangefinder

I got mine in the mail today. It will only range trees to 700 yards, big reflective building at 2080 tops. a tower at 1450
The trees have no leaves on them, so mostly only about 400-500 yards.
I can range trees with my older clunky Luepy 1000 at 750 yds.

if it can't range trees at over 750, how is it going to range an animal? Yes I keep the button held down for continuous scan. overcasts day around 2:30-3pm.

I am not a Sig cheerleader and don't work for them. So I'll not inflate my results, I will do more tests and get back. maybe there is something I'm not doing right.
I plan to give it more time before I give a negative report. Not impressed as of now.

Either you got a dud or something is not being done right. I posted a video earlier in this thread. Ranged trees at 1900 yards off hand while holding my phone against the eye piece, also ranged bare willow bushes well over 1000. And bare dirt hillsides at 1500. It's in the video

If you did happen to get a lemon I guess we will see how their c/s is.

Ageed!
That's a bummer. Must be a dud.
mine ranges trees without leaves through my bay window at 1600 plus or minus yards.
hope you get it fixed.

Just ranged a spruce tree in the rain plus fog at 2251.1
did this three seperate times.
no sun, and dark will be in near 15 minutes.

Please let us know how it goes.
I don't inflate results either. In fact I never post. Just read reviews normally.
Good luck

The first Leica 1600 I received wouldn't range very far. I sent it back to the company I purchased it from. They tested the next one before they sent it to me. When I received the replacement, it ranged twice as far as the original unit. I've ranged out to 1900-2000 yds with the replacement 1600. Still using it many years later. So you may have received a defective unit, as I originally did.

Another test.

I said I would do more testing before I posted a negative review.

Ok. Took it out again and ranged a few trees and shrubs, about the same reading. I took the battery out of my Leupold 1000 RF that I had just replaced a year ago. I sat all winter in the cold garage, but this seemed to improve the Kilo 2000's range.. I was reading large tree's at 1200-1400 yardss.. the smaller trees (less than 12 in wide) don't seem to read past 700-800 yards, even when bunched together.

I went to the battery store and bought 2 new lithium Duricels for it

I ranged a few trees at 1200-1450 yards. But it took many tries. got one reading on a tree at 1900+, ranged a dirt levy *hill" at 1630, took many tries, but it wasn't bare. a few houses at over 2000, one at 2440 yards.. depending on the angle of the house building depends on how far it ranges.
Most of the trees around here sem to be small in the woods. A lot of time I try and messure a wooded area and never got past 700 yards, other wooded area I can read 600-900 or more easy.

I'm not sure if mine is a dude or not, but I suspect the battery they sent with it may have been defective, and this would not be Sig's fault At the same time I may one that is not calibrated as some here have. 2200 yards on trees.. mine will not do this.

Scotty, you might want to find the calibration of where your beam is inside your reticle. Also, put the RF is line of site mode and far target.

Watch here where I explain how to find your beam alignment to the reticle and how to use the hyper scan and last target to get the most out of the unit.

Also remember, these are selling for under $400 and I promise you, it will spank anything in its price range.

Hope this helps

you must have removed the video. You talked about a video on one post, but no link or anything in it to a video.

I seen tat video and well know that not all rangefinder have a perfect alignment of beam to center circle, I will indeed try to refine where my beam is.

As a note mine does not read trees in a Forrest easy with a single click like I seen others do it. Also I search EVERYWHERE on the inter net. 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999% sell for $499. Never seen one sell for under $400, got mine from Amnazon for $462

Sig doesn't manufacture Tinker Toys, so it doesn't surprise me that their first offering in Laser Rangefinders is measuring up. They think before they manufacture and market.

Ok, was only trying to help you. Why the attitude?

As for price. There are plenty of reports for under $400. like post 174 of this thread.

Or my quick search found this one for $399. SIG SAUER SOK16701 Sig kilo 2000 7x25 laser - SavingLots.com

Good luck

Jeff

No attitude, I just said I looked everywhere. Did a google search. And I never found anything under $450.. I already have one, not upset for what I paid for it. I would like to say thanks for the link, it might help others looking for one on here.

I'm not sure about mine yet, I will do more tests and conclude if I have a dud.. I see others read trees instantly at 1500-1600 yards..mine doesn't do that, it takes time.. it's slow at most stuff over 1000 yards. need to find out where my beam in the circle hits and then test.
