My first impression and interest was the smaller than G7 form factor. The 2400 definitely wins for my small hands. Initial ranging around the hood this afternoon was noticeably faster but that was at <400 yards.

RobStar,

You know that we're all sitting here waiting for more impressions and comparisons to the G7. We'd like you to go out in the dark if need be:) Thanks for making the last two posts.

Just sitting here at my desk working with the set up and the app it is for the most part very intuitive. I only have data on two rifles at the moment; my Proof 7mm for hunting and my "learner" PRS gun which is a Ruger RPR in 6.5 CM and they were easy to program into the app. I only needed the manual for a few menu sequence reminders.

First impressions out of the box:

  • The app interface is very clean and intuitive
  • BT pairing between app and phone was invisible, it just happens. Interesting the app sees my TILE locator chips we use for keeping tabs on camera gear and my keys.
  • Cycling through menus is easy
  • Ranges very very fast compared to my 2nd gen G7 and Leica 1000 at <400 yards in the dusk/dark. (I'll get out tomorrow and test distances)
  • Adding a rifle and bullet is easy
  • Syncing was easy
  • The small belt case and the molle kit case are well done additions, not cheap add on junk. This was a purpose built case for this product complete with elastic battery retainers.
  • They include three nice Duracell Ultra Lithium CR2 batteries not cheap overseas batts. (that must mean this thing uses juice which once programmed you should turn the Bluetooth off anyway)
  • The display works great in auto mode so far but it was near dark and overcast so I didn't have bright sun / sand to range against.
  • I really like the aiming circle size! Much better than my gen 2 G7.
My Ruger is set up MILS and my Proof rifle is MOA. * If you use both you absolutely must remember to change that manually when you cycle between profiles. MOA/MILS is set global for the rangefinder, NOT by the profile. To the MFR I'd recommend that setting be profile specific on the next firmware upgrade if possible as it is on my G7. Otherwise it could really bone you or maybe I'm the only guy who has both MIL/MOA systems.

That's all I have to offer for this evening but I'll surely give it a workout tomorrow and the rest of the week. I'm primarily a hunter and not all that technical so if you're looking for a super technical review that will not likely be me. Nor will I report on ranging things like buildings, cars etc; just metal targets at the range, trees, rocks and shrubs. Maybe a coyote or wild burro if they're out in the desert this week.

Here's another little bit regarding the anemometer/WindMeter and my iPhone 6s Plus:

If you are using an add-on battery pack like a Mophie you will definitely need the small short super thin extension cable that comes with a Mophie for the mini-pin connector to get into the phone past the case. I use a Mophie around town as if fits in my pocket easily.

For hunting I use a truly waterproof battery case from LifeProof (div of OtterBox) and the WindMeter mini-pin has no problem connecting through the jack on that case.

One thing I have not tried yet is the wireless Bluetooth wind meter by the same company I have for my GeoBallistics app. It would great if that worked (hint hint MFR) so you don't have to worry about plugging in at all.

Must.... put... this... thing... DOWN! :D

I think I would hate to be sitting on a bunch of G7 inventory!!

+1! lightbulblightbulb

i knew the G7 was big, but wow that is eye opening to see the difference compared to the SIG.

i am anxious to hear what CONS there might be on the 2400, so far everything (to me) seems positive and an absolute homerun for SIG

I run both MOA and MIL so maybe that would be an easy fix so it doesn't auto switch them all to same one cuz that would be aggravating to say the least.

It will not, because the LRF must be connected to the Phone when you use the wind meter. Mobile Devices only allow 1 Bluetooth Device Connected at a time.

I think that this is a major problem. I also run both mils and moa. That designation should be locked into the profile. I wonder if this can be fixed? Can you imagine if Shooter/Applied Ballistics did this? It would be a deal breaker if you input rifle profiles that were set up in mils, then used a rifle that was setup in moa, and in so doing it switched all your mils rifles to MOA and you had to remember each time to go switch it back. Sounds like a major pain and costly if you forget and missed an animal. I also can't think of a good reason as to why it is this way especially since all the profiles must be setup and synced with the app. For $1500- $1800 this should be fixed or at least give the user the option to choose how they want it to act. I'd be interested in hearing if there's an actual reason for this or if it's just an oversight that will be fixed. We know it can be done because the G7 does this correctly.

The Kilo was designed so that profiles are not edited in any way from inside the LRF, this is why MIL/MOA is handled the way it is. We wanted everything to be done in the app.

Personally I think its fine the way it is. But I can see a reasoning for wanting mil or moa to stay rifle specific. Doc I dont' think they care that its done in the app, but if say my 6.5 is set at mils in the app and my 7mm is set at moa. I think they are saying that I tell the RF to operate in mils or in moa, so if I tell it to operate in mils then I select my 7mm the rf will be operating in mils for the 7mm.

That is my take on what they are saying so clarification?

Think of this pro. If your buddy or a friend is working in a different system, you can with the press of a button change over, help them out, then change back to what you are doing. I don't think you are going to be confused, it says "MIL" or "MOA" In the reticle.

Something to consider, I know this looks busy, but only what you are currently using is highlighted. For instance where it says "Y" would say "M" if you are working in Meters. Where it says Best/Last or LOS/AMR... Only your preferences will be displayed.

I've only had it a few hours but as far as I can tell MOA/MIL is only selected in the RF not the app. I'll double check and test again today.

When you select a profile in the RF you then page through its settings until is done. It is there you select MOA/MIL. If you select MOA for profile 1 for instance, it defaults to that when you select the next profile.

I don't switch up rifles while hunting and will eventually go all mil one day.
