Show me your favorite Coyote gun

"Doc",

I used to live in NW Pennsylviania and hunted fox there. Even though I'm now in the Las Vegas valley I still have my snow camo clothing. As a ski patroller, back country skier and former XC racer I'm well attuned to winter. Maybe this year I'll get some buddies together and go to northern Nevada for a hunt.

I'll just use snow camo tape on my rifles and Benelli 12 ga. shotgun.

Eric

I have a Remington R-15 w/22" barrel that looks very similar to yours. I have the m-223 mount and Nikon P223 scope on mine. It shoots incredibly well with the American Eagle tipped varmint loads that come in the black box. The superformace shoot well as well but cost twice as much. The tipped varmint loads shoot 1/2 - 5/8 MOA out of my R-15. A few weeks ago I hit a 12" gong twice at 798 yards. I shot 10 times at it. The wind was the killer. If it was calm or at least steady I could have hit it more I'm sure.

But even with all that my 243 in my original post is my favorite yote buster. It's lighter and quieter to pack. And packs more punch to boot.

Wow man I'd say that's really good. I don't really have any intentions of taking mine out that far. We get a lot of wind around here and when I was playing around with my shooter app it sure doesn't take much wind to move that smaller bullet a long ways. I don't really figure on taking any shots past 400 with mine with most being 100 or less with calling them in. I've got my 7mm for my long range shooting, but I've only shot one coyote with it. It tears up way too much hide Imo. I bet you do like that .243 for coyotes. Not too big, yet big enough to handle the wind better. I'd considered selling my AR and getting a bolt gun for calling, but it shoots so good I can't make myself part with it. I've had good luck with other ammo in it as well. My buddy that I bought it off of was shooting cheap Ultramax 52gr hollow points at .5 moa. I might take a picture of the target I was shooting last week @200 and try to put up later. I never measured it, but it's a pretty dang good group.

I hit the gong twice but I'd never shoot that far at an animal. We were shooting some other guns at the gong and after I burned up most of my ammo I decided to check my elevation drops with my AR on it for a few shots. About 350-400 yards is where I'd stop under most conditions. Maybe if it was perfectly still out I might go 500 on a yote. The wind blows that little bullet around sooo much.

In Feb. I bought a Rugher American rifle in 22-250.

Never shot it and last month I traded it for a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor, which I plan to use for a competition gun as well as for coyotes.
I think that cartridge is much better than the 22-250 for longer shots and for deer as well.

+1 on that. Its a great all around cartridge. Just shot a dog couple nights ago with my 6.5 Creed. Ive used it to deer and bear hunt as well.

6x47 lapua, most gear is the same I use for steel comps, just have the shockwave and some mouth calls added.
