SHERMAN WILDCAT SUGGESTIONS

Something to compete with the 22-243ai. I have a 22-243 1.8 twist 26" barrel shooting 75g amaxes at 3560 so something like this or faster. I would proably move up to 80s if they would be at 3600 plus.

I already have that covered. It's called a 6 mm SST. I will run the 110 Sierra darn near 3500', and the 115's too!

What about the nosler brass? Or is that just too hard to source?
Nosler is right up there in Bend, Oregon... I'd love to see some Nosler and Sherman brass. That would be an awesome combination. I'd also absolutely LOVE to see some Lapua and Sherman brass...

I'd also love to see a .257 Sherman, and .257 SS... ;)

That would be pretty easy, but I dont think there would be that much demand unless more good bullets become available

Here is my suggestion. I do like fast rounds. Not sure this is up your ally as it is a bigger case. How about the .338 Excaliber shortened to standard length action and necked to .243 .264 .284 .308 .338 .358 .375......

The base of that shell is .580 ;) A rather small well maybe large problem... Brass may be hard to get now.

I have a 30 cal wildcat I am in the processes of building. Reamer and go and no go are designed and ordered waiting for them to come in. :D

I have a couple hundred 423 Dakota (Lapua) brass that I've had stashed in case I ever wanted to do what you are suggesting. It would take some special tooling and dies to pull it off, and I haven't gotten to the point yet to where I wanted to take it on. It has been done, to some extent. There was a 280 Fatso a few years back, and I think "Swamplord" this site, does something similar.

Tell Berger to start making some .257 135-140 grain Elite Hunters, and since they're owned by NAMMO, also get Lapua in on the deal making Sherman brass.

Someplace along the line, .257 shooters are going to have to take the bull by the horns themselves. Even the wildcatters seem to have lost interest, Remington legitimized the .25-06 only after 50 years of demand created by shooters themselves.

If we're ever to see advancement of the quarter bores it won't come from a board room.
