Sherman Wildcat Reloading Data is Here!!!

6.5 sst data with 142smk - 143eld-x - and 147eld-m with loads using Retumbo are interchangeable with imr 8133...such as 59.0 grains of Retumbo with 147 eld-m/cci 200/@ 2.810" coal ...can also use imr 8133 59.0 grains/147 eld-m/cci 200/@2.810" coal... I've been able to shoot .5grains more with imr 8133 than with Retumbo without reaching too high pressure. The IMR 8133 is a smaller & more dense spherical powder grain than the Retumbo which I've found can take up a little too much room sometimes resulting in a compressed load, whereas the 8133 will not be a compressed load using equal loads as Retumbo.
I found 8133 to be slightly slower than Retumbo and I couldn't get es down with it.

Had similar problems but I didn't try working with different coal, or primers...so I just wanted to include it with some of the other powders as a viable option.

COAL 3.031
CBTO 2.245

My 7ss is coming home next week..deviant with 26" 8.5 brux barrel..
Im planning to use 175 elite..with reamer 7 ss2..
Any pet load you guys want to share with same or close spec as mine?

I've tried the following powders in multiple 6.5 ss barrels with different brass, 210 and 125 primers and bullets from 126-143. Just in case anyone has interest in the future.

H1000
N570
R26
R23
4831SC

I settled on R23 for my 130 Scirocco and 126 Hammer load. First was around 3200 and the Hammer is 3350. R26, N570 (max load) and H1000 (warm load) gave me around 3200 with 140's. R23 maxed at 3159 and Retumbo was around 3175.

All of those gave sub MOA accuracy. If I could just stop tinkering I'm sure I'd have one dialed in.

Good to know retumbo works..i only got retumbo and h1000 out of all the powder you mentioned..ty again mate

I tried all the powders you mentioned, except RL-23, in my 6.5 Sherman over the last couple of years. Retumbo and RL-26 gave me best velocity and accuracy in the L/A, so I'll try them in the 6.5 SS I'm having built, plus the RL-23.

I gave up on the N-570, though it gave top velocities, because the burn temperature was so hot. After 50, 100, and 150 rounds fired, I measured distance to lands and monitored barrel with the Hawkeye. Throat erosion and increased fire cracking we're excessive with the N-570.

H-1000, RL-26, RL-23 and Retumbo seem to be the top powders for the 6.5 Sherman builds. RL-23, supposedly having better temperature sensitivity, may be the #1 powder.

N570 was very temp insensitive in my testing, accurate and gave good velocity. It meters like Lincoln Logs, though.

I used R23 for the "on paper" temperature insensitivity. It gave good velocity and accuracy with the 126/130's. We'll see how it does with the 137 Hammers tomorrow. It was short on velocity compared to the others with 140 Elite Hunters and ELDs last summer.

Anyone running a 25 SST, 6.5SS or 7SS in a shorter barrel, say 22"? I know figure 25-40 FPS per inch. Looking for any real world results, load data, etc....??? Also do you know if the wildcat composite stocks will fit a proof sendero light, I have a email out to them but haven't heard back. Thanks!
