We reported, as directed for our 1st Moderna shot on 3/1/21. Many masked old-folks like us, group 1A reported. Upon arrival the nice lady checked our creds against a master list provided by our health care prover(s). We were then directed to a large conference room where multiple vaccination stations were set up. Almost immediately I was summoned to to a station where a sweet young thing commented that my cap, a knit red/white/ blue with a red pom-pom, was real cute. I graciously thanked her. The shot went well, right into my upper left arm, no pain. I thanked the nice young lady for a quick clean job. She said. "you must have been some kind of jock". I omitted an explanation of my past exploits and we exchanged eye smiles and I departed.
No after effects - I took my daily walk, did some yard clean up, had a nice belt of Dickel and scanned the kitten (cat) adoption list for an addition to our family. Wifey suffered minor effects but recovered soon. Other old folks reporting for 2nd shot reported same.
An explanation print-out was provided:
COVID-19 caused by coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2
Moderna COVID-10 Vaccine is an unapproved vaccine that may prevent COVID19. There is no FDA approved vaccine to prevent COVID19
FDA has authorized the emergency use of Moderna COVID19 under a "Emergency Use Authorization" - (EUA)
A list of med conditions/situations, including allergic reactions to the Moderna vaccine or its ingredients, was provided that could affect the Moderna COVID19 vaccination
A list of Moderna ingredients was provided, lots of funny sounding chemicals including polyethylene glycol (PEG).
Clinical trials - about 15,400 humans over 18 were injected with Moderna
Adverse vaccine side effects need to be reported to - FDA/CDC Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) 800-822-7967 or vaers,hhs.gov/reportevent.html - sounds bureaucratic.
We gets to go back for 2nd shot on 3/29/21
Edit: This is a valuable thread - gives insight of broad spectrum of ages, reactions, and events.
