See a wolf... what would you do?

Look at this page and tell me your not pulling the trigger

Jim, that link hits home!! I grew up on the Hansen ranch and know Helle's very well!!!! It cracks me up when people think that we could use use dogs of some kinds to hunt wolves, those Great Puranies are good at what they do but they don't even stand a chance with these wolves. Just for the info these dogs kept the native wolf at bay for years with little issues, they will toy with coyotes, I've watched them run down coyotes and catch them they are impressive but they stand little chance now.

Good link Jim, I've been looking for something to clearly debunk the guard dog theory, this clearly does it.
Tough thread, for me of the 3 SSS that third one is the most important, and toughest to keep. At least that's what I try to teach the kid's that want to learn about this hunting game. We have tags now way better than shovels.

There's just not enough tags and not enough hunters to control them. What a fine mess we have ourselves in! Too many decades of political correctness and appeasement and...and...and...

Hey everyone! I was away from home for 3 months hunting in 4 different states, as well as up in the northern LP of MI where I have hunting property and am now back and getting caught up on the computer. It amazes me that this swamphunter guy claims to be from MN and doesn't seem to know squat about this subject! I can tell you that these wolves have now overpopulated some of these areas you're talking about to the extent that they are moving out considerable distances to establish themselves and gain more and more ground and ecosystems than was ever envisioned. I hunt way over in the southwest part of the BigHorn Mountains of Wyoming and they are now way over here, although the Feds and F&G Dept. is trying to keep it as quiet as possible. Two different ranches, one of which is right next to the ranch I sometimes hunt on and raises sheep and cattle, were hit bad in the last couple years. A government agent, whose Dad I met through a mutual friend, killed 3 out of the pack and one that was thought to be the alpha male had been collared way up in Montana north of the Park and over 300 miles away as the crow flies. I saw a wolf track just this past year when helping survey a fence line separating the the two ranches (see attached picture), so one of these days there will be more trouble in the area as they get established in a whole new ecosystem. I'm afraid, and I hate to say this as a retired LE Investigator, that the only way we have a chance in this battle is to take the law into our own hands and practice the SSS method! There just aren't enough people shooting the amount of wolves needed in the various areas where they are now being allowed tags to do much good IMHO. As was stated in any earlier post, the amount that will be taken by hunters is about enough to just give them a stronger hold on their areas and allow them to stay healthy and increase their range like they are doing. Now the Feds and antis want to put them coast to coast and if allowed to do so it won't be too many years (possibly one generation) before they won't even need to try for our firearms because there won't be much need for them as far as hunting goes! Sad but true!!!

A former LEO here too, and I have to agree. This one was shot 80 miles south of me, in extreme SE Montana, south of Broadus even. From what I understand, that makes about 6 in this area this year that have been shot, but lots more have been sighted....and we're almost 400 miles away from where they planted the **** things!

Guys, got this this morning from BGF--Please help out...

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Take Action Today
Folks,

Big Action Alert today. We need your help to return wolves to state management in yet another state. Here is what is happening. US Fish and Wildlife Service's public comment period for Wyoming's wolf-delisting closes in two days, January 13, 2012.

Anti-sportsmen from all over America have been working hard to post comments in an attempt to derail the return of wolves to state management. They are working hard to outnumber comments from the good people of Wyoming.

Let's even the score.

Here is where it gets interesting. Reportedly, less than 2,000 comments have been made so far. This is because automatic comments are not permitted by Fish and Wildlife's system.

Approximately 20,000 Big Game Forever supporters can turn the tide. This one will take 5 minutes to go through the sign-in process for US Fish and Wildlife's system. It is worth your time to help the good people of Wyoming.

See the message below on how to make a comment. Once you are in the system, you can keep your comments very short. Simply indicate you support the right of Wyoming and all states to manage wolves and other wildlife.

Your comment can make a huge difference. Please take 5 minutes today to protect the future of wildlife in America. We are winning one state at a time.

There is currently two ways in which you may submit comments:
1) - A hard copy can be submitted by U.S. mail to:
Public Comments Processing
Attn: FWS-R6-ES-2011-0039
Division of Policy & Directives Management
U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
4401 North Fairfax Drive
MS 2042-PDM
Arlington, VA 22203
2) - Via email
To submit comments via email, in your search engine enter the following: Regulations.gov [Click on the link to the left.] Once the link opens, look for the box which asks for a Keyword or ID. Enter FWS-R6-ES-2011-0039, then click the search button.
The next screen look for the heading "Document Type" and place a check in the box before Proposed Rule (1).
You should see below a section which should now read: 1 result for "FWS-R6-ES-2011-0039".
Within the orange box titled "View by Relevance", you should see to the right Submit a Comment.
Click on Submit a Comment and complete the form.

There are three Sections; 1. Enter Information, 2. Type Comment, and 3. Upload File(s).

Any information you enter in Section 1 will be available for all to read so use caution in how much information you provide. You may only want to provide a first name and your state. You may want to mention your affiliation with SFW or Big Game Forever. I would discourage you from providing your email address, phone number, etc as anyone with internet access will be able to view whatever you submit.

Your comments do not need to be lengthy but should clearly state you support the USFWS proposal to remove wolves from the list of Endangered and Threatened Species.

Once you have completed your comments click on the orange submit button and you should receive confirmation that your comments have been submitted.

Thanks again for your support and participation in this effort,

Ryan Benson
